Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Philippians 2:4 (KJV)
Inspiration
God places each of us in a position of authority at one time or another. We are parents, CEOs, managers, pastors, or teachers, to name a few. The setting makes no difference; God directs us to treat each position the same. We must be righteous, merciful, and fair. Good leaders observe the strengths of those they oversee and encourage them to use their abilities for God’s plan.
Prayer
Dear Lord, Please help us see the strengths in our students and those we oversee. Guide our words to encourage them as they put their abilities to use in Your plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
Exodus 18:21 (KJV)
Inspiration
The act of choosing a leader is an important endeavor. Leaders are selected by committees, votes, or by an individual. Our choices have a negative or positive impact on those they will oversee. Scripture guides us in all decision-making and advises us to choose leaders who fear the Lord, speak the truth, and despise evil. Although we may be able to detect these qualities on the outside, we must turn to the Lord for guidance in choosing the person He wills for authority.
Prayer
Dear Lord, When You place us in positions to select leaders, we ask that You guide us during our selection process. We seek to choose our leaders based on Your plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
James 1:3 (KJV)
Inspiration
Satan delights in our struggles and creates hardships to take our focus away from the Lord. He places bumps in the road, temptations that cause us to wander from our path. Drifting off course leads us to conflict and misery. We cannot falter in our faith! Instead, we turn to scripture and absorb the Word, and rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance in strengthening our faith. God loves unconditionally, and we don’t have to be anxious amidst struggles because He is always there.
Prayer
Dear Lord, we come to You when we are experiencing struggles because we know that You are always present. Please strengthen our faith as we place our trust in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
Proverbs 16:28 (KJV)
Inspiration
Gossip is dangerous business! We often feel we are doing good by sharing details regarding a person’s private struggle. We intend to add them to a prayer chain or alert others so they can assist in some way. Sometimes the story we share becomes warped, and the truth becomes a lie that destroys a relationship. When passing along information, we will take our concerns to the Lord and rely on His Spirit to direct our wording. The Holy Spirit will help us understand the difference between information we are allowed to share and details that should be kept private.
Prayer
Dear Father, we do not intend to actively gossip; yet, it happens anyway. We call upon Your spirit to help us discern rumors from meaningful information we are allowed to share. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
Proverbs 11:13 (KJV)
Inspiration
God is merciful, trustworthy, and kind; we are to reflect His character with our thoughts and actions. On occasion, people share private matters and expect us to keep quiet. Although we respect their wishes, we often fail to keep quiet. We must look to our Heavenly Father as an example for our actions. God follows through with every promise, and when asked to keep a harmless matter confidential, we will honor our word.
Prayer
Dear Father, we devote our lives to You and choose to mirror Your image. Help us remain trustworthy when our friends share confidential matters with us; we do not want to break our word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
1 Timothy 5:13 (KJV)
Inspiration
It’s easy to become a busybody without realizing it. We have access to the details of a person’s life through social media, national news, or small-town gossip. We feel we have valuable information to share when, in reality, we are only causing trouble. We unintentionally spread rumors powerful enough to create division, break a heart, or destroy a friend’s reputation. We must remain alert to the power of gossip and focus on the work at hand. God needs us to actively spread the Gospel, not harmful details regarding a person’s life.
Prayer
Dear Father, please forgive us for wasting time spreading rumors when we should be actively sharing Your Word. We will keep our work in alignment with Your plan and not gossip of the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
2 Corinthians 12:20 (KJV)
Inspiration
The Devil enjoys it when we whisper behind each other’s backs. Gossip produces anger, sorrow, and violence. We hurt one another when we say hateful things or share personal secrets. We stir up anger which leads to violence when we share false information. Instead, we will focus on our walk to righteousness and share the Good News concerning salvation and our loving Heavenly Father. We want to share hope with our broken world and stop evil in its tracks.
Prayer
Dear Father, we will stop whispering behind each other’s backs and start sharing Your Word. We want to assist You by stopping evil instead of spreading it around with tounges of fire. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Ephesians 4:26 (KJV)
Inspiration
Anger is a dangerous emotion when allowed control. When observing our day, numerous small details cause frustration. We are displeased with our morning routine or annoyed by traffic. We are frustrated when we run late or have to wait in line for coffee. Although these seem like minimal irritations, they build up to become dangerous to our mental health. Before we know it, we are mad all the time; every moment of the day. Paul tells us we should work quickly to resolve our anger. Anger prompts us to act out of character and leads to sin. We will lay the burden of anger down and lean on the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Prayer
Dear Father, we grow irritated with minor inconveniences throughout the day; we lay the burden of anger at Your feet and seek guidance to rid ourselves of this darkness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Ephesians 4:31 (KJV)
Inspiration
As Christians, we seek to be an example to nonbelievers or our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Our attitude is a factor that makes a big impression on those who cross our paths each day. When faced with confrontation, our self-control says a lot about the love of God; therefore, we must be cautious not to act or speak out of bitterness. Instead, we will turn to the Holy Spirit and ask for the wisdom to handle conflict. We will remain patient in frustrating moments, just as God has been patient with our wandering hearts since the beginning of time.
Prayer
Dear Father, we want to be examples of Your mercy in all situations. Please grant us peace as we calm our emotions in conflicting situations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Matthew 5:7 (KJV)
Inspiration
God is loving, patient, and kind. He gives us multiple chances to seek repentance and take our place in His Kingdom. He forgives us when we feel unforgivable and encourages us to surrender our sinful ways. We find it challenging to show mercy in certain situations; we must turn to the Lord in prayer and seek guidance. He grants forgiveness for our darkest transgressions, and we will demonstrate the same compassion.
Prayer
Dear Father, forgive us when we find it challenging to forgive others. Help us remember Your grace and unconditional love, so our words and actions reflect You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.
Psalm 69:5 (KJV)
Inspiration
We attempt to hide our thoughts and actions from the Lord; it is useless. Our Creator knows our sinful nature and understands we will always fall short, yet, He loves us anyway and grants forgiveness for our transgressions. Instead of trying to hide our sin by omitting details, we will come before the Lord with honesty and ask for repentance with genuine hearts. We love our Heavenly Father and trust Him to guide us toward the path of righteousness when we admit our transgressions against Him.
Prayer
Dear God, Please forgive our sins as we come to You with honest hearts. We lay down our transgressions before You with pure hearts and choose to live according to Your will each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Isaiah 40:28 (KJV)
Inspiration
We have all had our day interrupted by a life-changing event. Our phone rings with the news of an ill loved one or the announcement of a lost job, making our plan for the moment, the day, or the rest of our life no longer meaningful.
