But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
2 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
Inspiration
Social media is often a platform for boasting, and we must be mindful to guard our hearts by asking God for peace and guidance. Bitterness erupts as we observe the corrupt becoming successful. Often, we unintentionally compare our lives and begin to think more highly of ourselves or completely lose confidence. The Devil enjoys testing our feelings in this manner. Boasting occurs in any setting such as work, school, church, or even the grocery store. We cling to God as we find ourselves in these settings and ask for guidance and protection, and we will not fall prey to jealousy or unnecessary condemnation from others.
Prayer
Dear God, help us to overlook the boasts of others and protect our hearts from the Devil as he attempts to ignite bitterness and jealousy within our hearts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:
Amos 8:11 (KJV)
Inspiration
Our souls are lost, broken, and afraid; we unknowing hunger and thirst for the Lord. When we spent our days searching, He made Himself known to us. Our creator loves us unconditionally and is always eager for the invite to dwell inside our hearts. We are fed with Scripture and nourished by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We have an ongoing desire to grow closer to our Lord and Savior.
Prayer
Dear Lord, You find us when we are lost and continually nourish our souls as we walk in Your path. We need You desperately and are thankful for Your daily presence. Please pull us closer to You each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
Amos 8:12 (KJV)
Inspiration
Searching for the Lord requires a genuine heart and thirst for truth. We often contemplate a problem and seek the Lord in guidance when we already have our minds made up. We ask the Lord for direction even though we’ve already decided to take the path we want. We must surrender our minds and prepare to listen, or we will not find the Lord. When we sincerely seek Him, we will always see and hear Him.
Prayer
Dear Lord, we are desperate for Your guidance! We will listen and follow Your instruction instead of making decisions alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Luke 10:2 (KJV)
Inspiration
Evangelism is a challenging mission. We feel overwhelmed as we invite a broken world to know Jesus. We must pray over our witness and ask the Lord to bless the ministry of others. Even though we are few, we remain unified, and the Lord will bless and encourages us in our labor. We will continue to turn to Him for strength and pray that our numbers increase daily.
Prayer
Dear Lord, we ask that You bless each of us in our ministry and help us grow in number. Your harvest will be great, and we strive to put forth our best as we tell the world about Your promise of salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luke 10:40 (KJV)
Inspiration
Work becomes a heavy burden when we feel we are the only ones getting anything done. Mary felt so overwhelmed with her workload; she overlooked Jesus! He was sitting right there, in her home! Given the same opportunity, we like to think we would immediately sit with the Lord when it’s possible we would have been more concerned about serving too. Even today, we remain focused on our busy work and other events. We skip church services or run out of time to study the Word. We have opportunities to visit with the Lord and hear His message daily. Instead of letting our schedules blind us, we will remain focused on the Lord.
Prayer
Dear Lord, we choose to focus on You! Help us see every opportunity to hear You and listen to Your instruction for our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
Luke 10:41 (KJV)
Inspiration
We become distracted in our walk with the Lord. Our busy schedules prevent us from attending church or assisting with ministry projects while also making it challenging to work in time for Bible Study. Just as Jesus, redirected Mary, He also steers us back to the right course. We must slow down and stop being anxious about life events so we may spend more time in service to the Lord.
Prayer
Dear Father, we are distracted by our schedules.Teach us to redirect our attention so we always keep You in focus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
Luke 11:33 (KJV)
Inspiration
Jesus’ crucifixion made our salvation possible. He is the light in our dark world, the hope amidst our hopelessness. Light cannot brighten a room if hidden, and our world cannot come to know Jesus if we do not tell them. Evangelism is an essential Christian duty. God calls upon us to spread the Gospel, and we take this task seriously because we want everyone to have the opportunity to learn about Jesus.
Prayer
Dear Father, we are eager to share the Gospel with everyone because Your gift of salvation is essential to their lives. Please help us keep Your light burning, bright and visible, to all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Luke 11:42 (KJV)
Inspiration
As Christians, we practice many customs regarding our worship or service in church settings. We can sing the best songs and pray the most beautiful prayers; they are meaningless if we do not live out our lives according to the will of God. We must not replace religion with rituals. Instead, we must worship with genuine hearts and surrender our lives for the work of the Lord.
Prayer
Dear Lord, we worship You with genuine hearts. Please teach us to live according to Your will so we may bring others to know You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Luke 12:15 (KJV)
Inspiration
As Christians, we have an eternal mindset. We live our earthly lives with an incentive for everlasting life alongside our Creator. Worldly things have no meaning to us because they are temporary. We have no interest in short-lived possessions as we set our sights on God’s eternal love.
Prayer
Dear Lord, the world is filled with temporary temptations. We have no interest in these short-lived things because our treasure is eternal life with You. We will continue to live our lives according to Your will as we cheerfully await Your return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
James 3:1 (KJV)
Inspiration
James relays crucial information to those who decide to become teachers. There should not be many teachers, and those chosen will receive a stricter judgment. We take this passage to heart as God calls us to teach. Our words and actions need to be a solid reflection of His character, and we must always speak the truth. God asks us to explain scripture accurately and teach others how to apply it to their lives to strengthen their faith. Leading someone astray is destructive so we will take God’s call seriously and teach with love and wisdom.
Prayer
Dear God, You call us to teach Your Word and share Your promise of salvation. Please guide us to help others strengthen their faith and sustain a loving relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
James 2:18 (KJV)
Inspiration
Actions display our faith! If we say we live by faith through Christ, we must consider how our actions reflect our claim. If we are not genuine, our faith and works are phony. Faith inspires us to act by providing for those in need, working within the church, or sitting with a grieving friend. Loyalty to the Lord motivates us to get out into the world and make changes in His name.
Prayer
Dear Lord, through faith, You inspire us to make the world a better place. Show us opportunities to act on Your behalf as we continue to live according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
James 4:2 (KJV)
Inspiration
The world tells us to get what we want by all means necessary. The Devil enjoys weaving evil through a man’s thoughts, making it seem okay to fight, steal, or kill to receive what they think the world owes them. As Christians, worldly treasures have no value; the love of God is the only incentive we have, and we joyfully live our lives according to His will. Although the world has a different opinion, we will continue to shine the love of God through our lives; living without violence and jealousy.
Prayer
Dear Lord, the world is filled with greed and the desire to obtain what we want at all costs. Forgive us for our jealous nature and teach us to live our lives as an example to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
James 3:6 (KJV)
Inspiration
Words have the potential to break hearts, shatter confidence, and destroy relationships. Words are sharp and painful; they will set the world on fire if allowed. Scripture tells us our tounges can defile our entire body because our language reflects God’s character. When we become angry, hurt, or need to administer spiritual discipline, we will speak kindly to one another and continue to love each other as God loves us.
Prayer
Dear God, we are a reflection of Your love in our words and actions. Teach us to use kind, merciful words when speaking to each other. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
1 Peter 1:24 (KJV)
Inspiration
Our bodies are exquisite and intricately designated by our loving Heavenly Father. Our form is temporary and begins to fade as soon as we are born; this makes no difference. Our hope is for an eternal future nestled deeply in the arms of our Creator. When we feel life slipping before us, we do not fear because we know our place is secure in the Kingdom of God.
Prayer
Dear Lord, we are grateful for our time here on earth as we await Your return. Thank You for loving us and securing us a place in Your arms. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
Matthew 20:26 (KJV)
Inspiration
Powerful rulers often think less of people below them and order their respect instead of earning it. Jesus explains that leaders must be servants first. The disciples were not all-powerful over God’s people; they were spiritual leaders who served by teaching, baptizing, and carrying out other works of the Lord. We see power struggles that cause war, broken families, and fragmented churches. When chosen as spiritual leaders, we understand that we are servants to those we are leading to the Lord. We will serve them by ministering to their needs and encouraging them to strengthen their faith.
Prayer
Dear Lord, You call leaders to serve Your people in their needs. Please guide us as we answer Your call to lead by serving Your people first. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
Proverbs 29:4 (KJV)
Inspiration
When a king rules with fairness and justice, his kingdom will flourish. If the same king accepts gifts or bribes, his kingdom will fall. We’ve all observed a person in a leadership position who acted wrongfully. Perhaps a boss did not discipline employees fairly, or a political leader accepted kickbacks for legislation decisions. These corrupt actions lead to their demise. Scripture advises leaders to maintain justice with fair decision-making. As leaders, we must reflect on the mercy and grace God shows to us and lead others in the same fashion.
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for coaching us in our leadership endeavors. We have faith in Your Words and will lead Your people accordingly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
Proverbs 29:11 (KJV)
Inspiration
Often, we speak before we have to opportunity to think about our words. In the heat of the moment, we immediately express negative feelings without analyzing the situation first. We jump to conclusions when directing meetings and speak in haste with our children before evaluating all sides. As leaders in any setting, we must be tactful and make decisions by weighing all details. Instead of expressing emotions with our authority, we must seek to mediate justly and reflect the mercy of God with our decision-making.
Prayer
Dear Lord, Please forgive us when we jump to conclusions and fail to lead with mercy and grace. Guide us to reflect Your character when You place us in a position of authority. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
