Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
From: Luke 14:31 (KJV)

Inspiration
We prepare for a hike by wearing efficient shoes and bringing plenty of water; so we don’t become weary or dehydrated. We also equip our spirits by abandoning earthly business to follow the Lord. Jesus told the disciples on multiple occasions that the road would be challenging; thus, God would always provide for them as they spread the Gospel in His name. God followed through to ensure they were clothed, fed, and sheltered each step of the way. God calls us to special ministries throughout our life. We doubt our abilities or become worried about day-to-day provisions. We must remember that God will always provide for us as we continue our work in His name.

Prayer
Dear God, You call us to minister to the world by undertaking various tasks. We will not worry about the details because we know that You will provide for us accordingly. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
From: Luke 14:33 (KJV)

Inspiration
God asks us to minister to the world and share the Gospel in His name. Sometimes, we are too busy. We become caught up with our daily routines or personal plans, and we have dates marked on the calendar that seem more important. We often find it inconvenient to work church activities or missionary projects into our overloaded agendas. We are to remember, we are children of God before anything else, and sharing the Gospel is our number one priority.

Prayer
Dear Lord, Please restore us, and help us refocus our lives as we minister to those around us. We choose to lay down our earthly lives to follow You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
From: Colossians 3:22 (KJV)

Inspiration
Scripture addresses our work ethic, and we must pay attention! Often, we are frustrated with our employment situation due to minimal wages paid or work atmosphere. We disagree with our employer’s decision-making or the tasks we are assigned. God is present in each moment. He sees our actions and hears each thought. We will put our best effort forward by showing reverence instead of working the bare minimum with disrespectful hearts.

Prayer
Dear Lord, We are thankful for our employment opportunities and will honor You by working hard and communicating with respect and dignity. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
From: Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

Inspiration
We put our best foot forward when completing any endeavor. Whether it be work, school, or other social events, we are to give our best instead of slacking off. Most importantly, we must work with a cheerful heart. God is all-knowing and recognizes our resentful, reluctant emotions right away. Actions speak volumes, and we want to reflect God’s character in each activity, even when our obligations are tedious. When we commit our time or energy to someone, we will follow through with eagerness and a moralistic work ethic.

Prayer
Dear Lord, When we commit our time and energy to others, we will give our best and complete each endeavor with a cheerful heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
From: Genesis 2:3 (KJV)

Inspiration
We can’t imagine the work and planning God devoted as He created this beautiful world. On the seventh day, God rested. After putting forth a hard day’s labor, we are also encouraged to rest. Our earthly bodies need time to restore themselves and rejuvenate, so we return to work physically and mentally refreshed. Rest allows us to remain alert and ready to put forth the best effort in our work, school, or home environment.

Prayer
Dear God, Please help us understand it is acceptable to rest; so our bodies remain rejuvenated and refreshed for future endeavors. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
From: Genesis 2:15 (KJV)

Inspiration
God presented Adam with the honor of tending to the Garden of Eden; He also assigns us meaningful tasks throughout our earthly lives. Those tasks include ministering and providing for others. We are His most precious creation so taking care of one another is a significant obligation. We want to be diligent and dependable as we teach others about Christ and care for their physical and spiritual needs. We are honored, as children of God, to devote our efforts to others.

Prayer
Dear God, We recognize that we are obligated to care for one another. We consider this an honor and will work diligently and dependably as You will. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
From: 1 Peter 4:8 (KJV)

Inspiration
Love is powerful; yet fragile, and we must handle it with care. Love protects marriages when life struggles erupt; it’s the glue that holds families together when experiencing financial woes or the loss of loved ones. God loves us unconditionally; by the power of His love, our salvation is secure. We had instances when it was challenging to love one another. In those moments, we consider how diligently Christ loved us as He died for our sins on Calvary, and we remember our commitment to love one another as He loves us.

Prayer
Dear Lord, We strive to love one another as You love us. We will stand by our commitment to You and love each other, even though it may be challenging. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
From: 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (KJV)

Inspiration

Everyone has a story or hidden struggle, making it essential for us to seek ways to encourage one another. Evil and sorrow fill the world, and we remain alert for opportunities to lift one another out of miry pits of despair. We rely on the Holy Spirit for discernment when speaking to one another. People do not wear spiritual wounds on the outside, so we rely on Him to direct us in our words and actions. Our faith allows us to show God’s love to those who struggle with sorrow or depression.

Prayer

Dear Lord, We call upon Your Spirit to help us recognize opportunities to show Your love to others when they are struggling. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
From: 1 Peter 5:6 (KJV)

Inspiration

No one enjoys making mistakes, or worse, having to admit it. We unintentionally think highly of ourselves, especially when attempting to walk the straight and narrow path of righteousness. We make excuses for our actions or blame someone else when we sin. Humility is essential as we come to the Lord for repentance. We must be honest and admit to our wrongdoings, and we do this by understanding we are not perfect.

Prayer

Dear God, We come before You with humble hearts. Please forgive our sins and direct us as we live our lives according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
From: James 4:6 (KJV)

Inspiration

God extends unearned grace to us consistently. We hold our heads high as we attempt to live a Christian lifestyle, forsaking the sinful nature we despise. Unfortunately, we stumble daily. We covet others’ belongings as we scroll through social media, and we allow bitterness a stronghold when we don’t get our way. We must strip away our egos and bare our souls to the Lord with honesty and humility. He will continue to grant grace when we repent with genuine hearts.

Prayer

Dear God, We do not deserve forgiveness. We come to You and ask forgiveness with humble hearts this day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
From: Psalm 51:1 (KJV)

Inspiration

Salvation is the most precious gift we will ever receive. Sin entangles us, and we are repeat offenders. We do not understand why God has chosen to love us or have mercy on our souls; His grace and compassion humble us. Each morning we turn to the Lord in prayer, asking for repentance, and by evening we have unintentionally committed the same offense. Only God’s love is mighty and merciful enough to continue to forgive our sinful nature and remove our transgressions.

Prayer

Dear Lord, Please forgive our trespasses and guide us away from the evil that temps us daily. We ask for repentance with genuine hearts and the intention to change, only to fail again. We are thankful for Your everlasting love and will work harder to rid ourselves of our sinful tendencies. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
From: Luke 10:2 (KJV)

Inspiration

God accomplishes miracles through the work of a few people! When we see needs within our church or community, we come together to start new ministries. We begin with a few people and often feel overwhelmed by the task ahead. Let us remember the twelve disciples, only twelve to share the Gospel with nations! They trusted God with the task at hand, and we see their success before us right now! When it looks like we don’t have enough help, let us remember how God moved mountains with only twelve disciples. All we must do is trust His plan.

Prayer

Dear God, We see the needs of others and are ready to take action in Your ministry. We know You can do anything with a few people, and we will trust You every step of the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
From: Luke 10:16 (KJV)

Inspiration

God takes it personally when we disrespect people. We treat others as we treat ourselves because we will hurt God when we hurt those around us. We become frustrated when waiting in long lines to check out at the grocery store or be seated at a restaurant table. Instead of taking our frustration out on strangers, we must take a moment to analyze the situation. We can show God’s love to an employee who’s had a difficult day by treating them with kindness and respect rather than impatience or anger.

Prayer

Dear God, We want to show the world how You love us unconditionally. We can achieve this by treating others with kindness and compassion. Please open our eyes and give us opportunities to share Your love with others each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
From: Psalm 40:10 (KJV)

Inspiration

The story of salvation is precious, and we are eager to proclaim it to the world. We have personal stories and testimonies that help people relate to God and gain thorough knowledge regarding the path to righteousness. We will not keep the Gospel a secret! Instead, we will proclaim it from the mountain top; we will tell the world about the steadfast love of God and explain how faith in Jesus and repentance of our sin leads us to eternal life with our Heavenly Father.

Prayer

Dear Lord, Your love is precious, and we devote our lives to You. We will sing Your praises from the mountain tops with cheerful hearts. You are a loving Father, and we are thankful for Your faithful love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
From: Luke 10:31 (KJV)

Inspiration

We are too comfortable with our Christian lifestyle as we schedule time for church and Bible Study. Our calendar is precise, leaving no room for interruption. The priest and Levite passed by the injured man and didn’t stop to help. They may have thought he was already dead or did not want to get involved; perhaps, they were too busy. Sometimes we are too busy! We have our day planned to the minute and ‘schedule’ time with God at church or other settings. We must remember, God calls us to minister to the wounded first. Earthly business can wait when the Lord calls us to meet with someone in need.

Prayer

Dear Lord, We are overwhelmed with daily activities and overlook the needs of others. Help us see the injured and make time to help them heal. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verse of the Day

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
From: Luke 10:33 (KJV)

Inspiration

As we venture out into our daily journey, we do not have time for interruptions. We miss opportunities to help one another when we aren’t even looking! We must slow down and look closely at the world around us; there are people in need of our comfort and support. Our friend is depressed because they’ve lost a job, and our family is hurting over the death of a loved one. Our spouse is anxious over bills while a co-worker fights addiction. The Samaritan was on a journey; he had somewhere else to be, yet, he stopped to help the injured man. He did not see the man’s need as an interruption because he had compassion in his heart.

Prayer

Dear God, Forgive us for staying busy and overlooking the needs of others. We will slow down and look for people we can comfort and encourage. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
