एक बार मुगल सरदार बहलोल खाँ एवं शिवाजी की सेनाओं में युद्ध चल रहा था । शिवाजी युद्ध के विचारों में ही खोये हुए थे कि सेनापति भामलेकर तेजी से घोड़े को दौड़ाते हुए शिवाजी के पास आये ।

भामलेकर को देखकर ही शिवाजी समझ गये कि ये विजयी होकर आये हैं किंतु उनके पीछे दो सैनिक जो डोली लेकर आ रहे थे, उसके बारे में उनको कुछ समझ में नहीं आया । वे दौड़कर नीचे आये और भामलेकर को गले लगा लिया ।

भामलेकर ने कहा : ‘‘छत्रपति ! आज मुगल सेना दूर तक खदेड़ दी गयी है । बेचारा बहलोल खाँ जान बचाकर भाग गया । अब हिम्मत नहीं कि मुगल सेना इधर की तरफ मुँह भी कर सके ।’’

शिवाजी : ‘‘वह तो मैं तुम्हें देखकर ही समझ गया था, भामलेकर ! किंतु इस डोली में क्या है ?’’

अट्टहास्य करते हुए भामलेकर ने कहा : ‘‘इसमें मुस्लिमों में सुंदरता के लिए प्रसिद्ध बहलोल खाँ की बेगम है, महाराज ! मुगल सरदार ने हजारों-लाखों हिन्दू नारियों का सतीत्व लूटा है । उसी का प्रतिशोध लेने के लिए मेरी ओर से आपको यह भेंट है ।’’

यह सुनकर शिवाजी अवाक् रह गये । उन्हें अपने किसी सरदार और सामन्त से ऐसी मूर्खता की आशा नहीं थी । कुछ देर ठहरकर वे डोली के पास गये तथा पर्दा हटाया और बहलोल खाँ की बेगम को बाहर आने के लिए कहा । डरती-सहमती वह बाहर आयी तब शिवाजी ने उसे ऊपर से नीचे तक निहारा और कहा : ‘‘सचमुच, तुम बड़ी सुंदर हो । किंतु अफसोस है कि मैं तुम्हारी कोख से पैदा नहीं हुआ । नहीं तो मैं भी तुम्हारे जैसा ही सुंदर होता ।’’

उन्होंने अपने एक अन्य अधिकारी को आदेश दिया कि वह बेगम को बाइज्जत ले जाकर बहलोल खाँ को सौंप दे । फिर भामलेकर की ओर मुड़कर बोले : ‘‘तुम मेरे साथ इतने दिनों तक रहे पर मुझे पहचान नहीं पाये । वीर उसे नहीं कहते जो अबलाओं पर प्रहार करे, उनका सतीत्व लूटे । हमें अपनी सांस्कृतिक गरिमा और मर्यादा का ध्यान रखना चाहिए ।’’

शिवाजी के कथन को सुनकर भामलेकर को अपनी भूल के लिए पश्चात्ताप होने लगा । इधर बेगम को ससम्मान लौटाया हुआ देखकर बहलोल खाँ भी विस्मित हुए बिना नहीं रहा । वह तो सोच रहा था कि ‘अब उसकी सबसे प्रिय बेगम शिवाजी के महल की शोभा बन चुकी होगी ।’

परंतु बेगम ने अपने पति को छत्रपति के बारे में जो कुछ बताया वह जानकर तथा अधिकारी के हाथों भेजा गया पत्र पढ़कर बहलोल खाँ जैसा क्रूर सेनापति भी पिघल गया । पत्र में शिवाजी ने अपने सेनानायक की गलती के लिए क्षमा माँगी थी । इस पत्र को देखकर स्वयं को बहुत महान् वीर और पराक्रमी समझनेवाला बहलोल खाँ अपनी ही नजर में शिवाजी के सामने बहुत छोटा दिखाई देने लगा । उसने निश्चय किया कि ‘इस फरिश्ते को देखकर ही दिल्ली लौटूँगा।’

I’m sure many of you have heard of it or even already read it, but I cannot stress how important and insightful “12 Rules for Life an antidote to Chaos” by Jordan Peterson has been to me. It’s under 20 dollars for a hardcover on Amazon and even less as paperback or an online version if you like. And it is definitely worth every penny.
If you have any spare time, especially time when you feel the urge to pmo or at least fall into temptation. It is one of the best books to pick up and read in my opinion. It takes all of my attention and will give you do much information to help you live a better life.
