I felt inspired this morning (late morning) to write the following. I’ve had the idea in my head for awhile it’s a fragment of a post apocalyptic manuscript. After the earth has been devastated and all modern technology , internet connected devices, phones, computers are obsolete and useless with no electrical power to run anything, no understanding of how to create electricity or charge a mobile phone. Maybe centuries after nuclear war there are still maybe books or accounts of this thing called porn addiction but it’s really hard for the inhabitants of this new world to understand how a generation could be ensnared by a porn habit. So I’ve tried to use non typical language to make my point and see the world through their eyes although now I’ve started I’ll probably want to rewrite it or use different words but this is a first attempt and it’s designed to make a strong point which I think we will resonate with as we stare aghast at ourselves and ask ourselves:
What happened to us? Both individually and as a generation
There came a time in the late 20th and early 21st century when men (well largely men) were becoming so enchanted by these moving images and still images of the opposite gender as if to deify and exalt certain members of it above what would be considered normal or natural.
In a bizarre way these public female prostitutes were both being publicly shamed through degrading sexual acts and yet celebrated and admired at the same time.
Although life for these famous sex slaves appeared lavish and luxurious little was known of their private anguish and suffering. Indeed humans were not created for such degrading treatment so many voices still spoke out against this phenomenon.
It was through the sheer magic of highly complicated technologies lost to us today that moving and still images of women in degrading sexual postures were made available to the masses. literally any person and normally a man would go to his handheld device (which was a marvel then and a total mystery to us today following the apocalypses and devastations) and seek satisfaction and pleasure through such images.
It seems very odd to us today that so many were in the thrall of their handheld devices, sat at their “computers” which were not really used for computing mathematical sums as one might suppose but rather used to summon up and procure these enchanting and erotic images.
Records show that the vast majority of humankind were in thrall to their technological devices and nearly all the men and a large proportion of women spent considerable time staring at still and moving pictures of women and men involved in sexual practices.
Typically the women were the main spectacle and were treated quite badly it is believed in most depictions. What is so puzzling to us today is that Men because it was largely men who were so enchanted and ensnared by these images would prefer these depictions however realistic to actual women of the opposite sex.
Apparently one factor in this mass obsession was the sheer abundance and novelty of the images and moving images( yes with sound it is believed! )
Did the men think that the women on the screens were able to satisfy their desires for sex and intimacy, for friendship and companionship?
It seems ludicrous to us today but our depictions of women are crude engravings, sculptures and drawings whereas their representations were in stunning minute detail it is believed.
Also it is believed men were able to speak with some of these women over great distances and yet still see them in absolute clarity on their many screens either undressed or involved in a sexual act of some sort.
So many men (and women) were thus ensnared by this practice and the governments of the time did little to prevent these activities or warn against it.
This activity of ’ looking’ linked with self stimulation became so commonplace that after many years a few groups arose in opposition to it.
Many men of this time suddenly seemed to realise that this practice was neither natural or healthy. One group that formed called itself ‘nofap’ another group the ‘rewire community’ and as bands of soldiers rallied together to encourage eachother to stop this practice which had taken a hold of their lives and thinking.
This group encouraged self restraint, self denial and the respect of women in an era when women were simultaneously empowered and degraded
This group promised eachother to not self stimulate and to record any act of self pleasuring particularly with these erotic images.
In this way these groups held eachother to a higher standard than the world around them.
It took many of the group years before they achieved what could be considered actual progress.
Our reports show that this group enjoyed a measure of success with many leaving behind the false and obviously empty pleasures of self stimulation to erotic depictions.
The counter system and support offered encouraged many to leave this life habit behind and pursue new life habits to replace it.
Many went on to have fulfilling relationships with women (and men)
Did all in this group ultimately succeed in stopping this negative and self indulgent practice?
Were some still indulging into the later years of their lives even to their very deathbeds?
The answer to that I do not know
Can you answer that question for yourself reader?
