Rudra diary - I DARE TO SEPEND 6 MONTHS ON MYSELF

No one can accurately tell you how long it takes to recover, because everyone is different.

Recovery time depends on many factors, such as your personal health and fitness, current age, age when you started doing PMO, frequency of PMO sessions, severity of addiction etc. It’s great to hear that in the past 26 days you’ve been keeping a good routine filled with healthy and productive activities. Those definitely aid the recovery process and decrease the amount of time needed to have a healthy, clean mind and body once more. The brain heals faster when we engage in activities like that, with healthy eating, regular exercise, 8 hours of sleep at night, 2L of water a day or more, and a positive mental attitude.

What I can tell you, is that even the most severe PMO addicts recover within 2 years. I have a friend here on Rewire who was an addict for over 40 years. At the height of his addiction, he was edging up to 16 hours a day. Pretty much just doing PMO all day, stopping only to eat and sleep. After about a year on hard mode, his symptoms were all gone and he has been experiencing the joy of recovery ever since. This was along with developing other self-improvement habits, like @Nep_12 said, NoPMO alone won’t get you where you want to go. You will recover, but it takes longer if you do nothing else but stop watching pornography or masturbating.

That story gives a great deal of hope for the rest of us. If 40 years of addiction can be recovered in 1 year, then most of us will recover within 6 months, if not before that. There will always be some exceptions, especially if we don’t engage in productive activities, but the main thing is that we will definitely recover as long as we commit to permanent abstinence and don’t continue to relapse. Relapsing resets the recovery process and can take us back months. During that 250+ day streak you had, if you were engaged in the same activities back then, you may have fully recovered during that time.

Some of the symptoms you’re currently experiencing, like the fevers, cold and sore throat etc. are not the result of abstinence from PMO, but were caused by PMO itself. It’s like the hangover experienced by the alcoholic. In the absence of alcohol, he feels piercing headaches, lack of energy and focus, but people who don’t drink don’t experience this. It is the result of alcohol, not the absence of alcohol which causes it. With enough time away from the poison, the alcoholic becomes just like those who do not drink, and it is the same for us. The symptoms will go away, don’t worry. That is of course, if they are related to NoPMO. They may be unrelated, as @the_resilient_one correctly mentioned.

Other issues you’ve mentioned, such as loneliness, anxiety or overthinking, are more complex. They can be worsened by PMO, but simply quitting PMO will not be enough for them to go away. You will need to develop yourself and work on a positive mental outlook in order to get rid of these issues.

As @_KarmaYogi mentioned, random erections are natural, they are actually a sign of good health. Releasing prostatic fluid may be an indication that you are fantasizing about women too much, in which case you’ll want to stop that immediately. Fantasizing is unhealthy and extremely dangerous on this journey.

Keep moving forward bro, you’re on the right path. Stay focused and determined.
