Reading The Lord of the Rings to keep motivated

To keep myself motivated I made the decision to read all the three parts of the book “The Lord of the Rings”

Why? Because I love the story (Movie) but I never read the book. Also the Book is quite BIG so it’s perfect for challenging myself to read it all.

The challenge will be that if I watch Pxxx or Fxx I need to go back to chapter one first book and read it again from the beginning.

in total there are 6 Books divided in 64 chapters.

1 - The Fellowship of the ring
2 - The Two Towers
3 - The Return of The King

The journey it’s not easy and it will take many days/months to complete it. I will try to read one chapter a day but sometimes less it depends on how much time I have.

The Ring Goes South I’m currently half way of chapter three of Book Two of the fellowship of the ring.

The Journey is going well. I feel inspired by this book.

Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”

I often feel like Frodo, when I’d rather live up to Sam’s standards :joy:
Glad you’re at it bro :ok_hand:

Bro I’ve read them 3 several times this is going to be rough some chapters are very long but this is only greater of a challenge! I wish you to succeed, this is an awesome book! (Btw, if you want even MORE challenge, read The Silmarillion, it is definitely the most dense book I’ve ever read)
Good luck and May the tides of winds take you far

I love this challenge you created! I’m thinking of doing same with Harry Potter. Thanks for a great motivator.

My friend I agree. The more I read the more I like this book. There is so much wisdom in it. I think it’s a book you can read many times and always find spiritual nourishment. Peace.

Hi @anon59699586, I like your idea of mastering your self-discipline skills for not only quiting PMO, but also for remaining focused on completing a gradual task of reading a long book. Pxxx has only made us believe in the lie of instant results or instant gratification.

I love Lord of the Rings too, and I have been meaning to read the books (since I’ve only seen the movies many times over). I shall begin doing the same from tonight. I’ll squeeze one hour of reading time before I sleep. I’m on day 0 today. My highest streak was 34 days.

By the way, I love this quote.
