Day 2 Check In
Think Iāve been going at this game all wrong. Currently Iāve sealed off all routes to PMO from my phone and laptop. I acknowledge that and so does my subconscious, I feel significantly less urges now I do wonder how long this would go on for
Bro read EasyPeasy, I read it completely twice now and have actually understood how immoral pics hijack our brain. I have no longer any desire to use porn or any youtube, instagram content just because of this simple concept- If I show you a pic of a beautiful woman, any man could get aroused but if you watch that static pic for a min or two it wouldānt even hit anymore. This is same if you view the pic in any serious social setting. Your brain only desires novelty. This explains why many addicts open multiple tabs while PMOing. They donāt even watch the entire video but stop and play only the parts that they find appealing. They keep on switching between different women whether they look good or bad, thus keep injecting themselves with dopamine surges. This effect is called the coolidge effect. Once I understood all this drug abuse kinda behaviour, I stopped immediately.
Now Iām only trying to quit masterbation forever. I keep relapsing to MO becuz of some traumatic breakup in the past. MO has no harmful effects on the brain but abstaining from it greatly reduces social anxiety and improves confidence.
I can advise you to first quit all visual stimuli you use like porn, youtube or any 2D static pic or video as all are equally dangerous and will only force you to escalate the levels to reach higher dopamine flooding.
If you read everything till here, then remember how badly and dearly you want quit this addiction and become a better person. Good luck.

If you wanna resist urges like that delete YouTube or TikTok trust me thatās what I did and I have had zero urges

I agree with all the points you made. I wouldnāt say cutting out all these device related activities is hardā¦its just easier to be lazy and not do anything different.
Its like the saying everyone wants to be a hero for their family but nobody wants to do the dishes.
Sometimes the simple, easy things we know we should do are the ones we procrastinate and ignoreā¦
Iām going to change that.

Question for some of the veterans: Is it better to go completely cold turkey with something like pmo, or should someone heavily reduce their consumption, for example go from PMOing 3-4 times a week to only looking at a picture of a clothed girl smiling once a week or whatever just to give a slight dopamine kick?

Man, I recommend you try to quit at once. The sooner you get rid of the dopamine rush and start to do real things that you really like, the faster you will start producing more serotonin (genuine happiness and pleasure).
But of course, if you still feel the need to gradually quit, itās better to see āan image of a clothed girl smilingā than to try to control yourself too much and end up watching porn.
