Hi, @anon67854825, my sharing code is iorqm5 . I am from India. I am new. I installed this app on 14 Nov…then relpased at 17 Nov (3 Days) and then relapsed at 27 Nov (10 Days). Now i am on 7th day.

Week 19 - Dec 4, Wed - Streak: 101 days

Good day today. Finished tutorial for understanding how to do this last part of my final project for CS. Now I am going to get to bed to get started on actually coding tomorrow early.

Kind of frustrated because apparently I have reached my maximum 50 likes per day and I can’t like anyone else’s post for 5 hours. @Taher Do we ever get an increase in our amount of likes we can give? If not, would you be able to increase it? This community is growing so much that 50 likes is no longer sufficient to communicate with everyone. Maybe you could make those with the Regular title have 100 likes or something? Let me know what you think.

Can’t wait to finally finish this semester next week.

To me, the extraordinary aspect of martial arts lies in its simplicity. The easy way is also the right way, and martial arts is nothing at all special; the closer to the true way of martial arts, the less wastage of expression there is.

Again I find this quote to relate so much to this addiction. In JKD, the martial art that Bruce Lee helped to develop, and in other, effective martial arts, it is taught that simplicity is important. It’s about what is effective, not how cool the move looks.

A lot of martial arts focus on forms and moves for show. But when they go to use them in a fight, they get beat up by some street-wise kid. That’s because those forms don’t teach you anything. They’re not realistic. Sure, they make you feel good about yourself, make you think you are a really good fighter, and you may even become much more athletic, but you end up deceiving yourself about your fighting skills.

It goes the same way for this addiction. Often times we get so involved in finding the best and fanciest ■■■■ blocker, exercise regime, or motivational program, and fill our schedule with countless things to do, however we end up failing in spite of these things. This is because we are making it too complicated. For me, I only really utilize 3 core strategies: Daily journals, Urge-Talks, and the X-Technique. That is it. And all of these basically fit into the simple concept of mindfulness. That’s what’s gotten me to this point. I don’t have a conundrum of activities that fill up my day. And that’s because the best techniques are also the simplest. The reality is, that in the moment of facing an urge, you aren’t going to want to jump through 50 hoops just to fight the urge, it’s already hard enough to choose to fight it instead of giving in.

Now this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to take on many different strategies. When you first start out, you might have a fuller schedule because you want to find what works for you and what strategies are best. But once you start to figure it out, everything should start to get simpler as you refine your strategy and find what works. And I should note that I am specifically talking about in terms of fighting urges. Obviously, cleaning up your life is a whole different aspect of beating this addiction and that can take up your schedule.

Simplicity is :key:

The limit is to keep likes special and a finite resource. So you know when a person liked your post, they really did like it.

This also reduces notification spam, because like notifications are post-centric (per distinct posts) rather than liker-centric (per distinct liker) “members” can be greeted with upwards to around 20 “LikerGuy liked a post” notifications when they logged in. This can be annoying to people.

Feeling like my brain is deadlock today…not working at all… completely numb and lifeless, sensation less…not having any motivation to do anything…may be it’s a flat line!!

Very stressful day today. Went to lab and saw that everyone was just finishing up while I haven’t even started the last part of our final project. I am so confused on where to start. I was productive in finishing the tutorial, but as the night came to an end I became so stressed that I just watched YouTube videos. Which made me more stressed. All my finals are due at the end of this week/beginning of next week and there is so little time.

But I took a step back and revaluated everything. I am meeting with my CS tutor on Saturday which means I should be working on my project for the final days. So instead I should move Electrical engineering to tonight and tomorrow. Well tonight is already done, but tomorrow is indeed still fresh. So I will skip lab tomorrow as it is no help and will instead start the day right away studying Electrical all day. I will go over everything I don’t know. Then I can spend the rest of the week doing my CS project in peace.
