What should Christians do to end porn addiction?

https://youtu.be/MX1AjYG_vDQ

The above video suggests to shift from ’ trying to not watch porn’ to ‘start knowing the Lord’. To know the Lord, I need to read Bible. What else to do besides reading the Bible?

The general idea is to replace one bad habit with a good one and to resolve any of the deeper issues that led you to starting in the first place. You need to track your days between relapses and slowly increase rhe minum frequency you allow yourself to do it. Porn is the strongest drug out there. I have overcome a lot, got myself in a good place in most other spiritual aspects now there is just this addiction to break so I ca function fully.

1.Resolve deep emotional issues and wounds. I think the addiction has a root from a deeper problem we haven’t resolved in our lives.

2.Love ourselves more. It we took care of ourselves better our overall happiness would improve.

These are just ideas but I know they are challenges I face in my life and I believe I’m not alone facing these challenges.

Read philosophy books and work toward a goal, fi d something you want to achieve and forcr yourself to work on it at a regular time no matter how you feel.

Service. Go find an old lady who needs her lawn mowed or help with groceries. Ask your church for service opportunities. Go to justserve.org find some local project. Do what Jesus did and would do if he were here in his place. Serve your way out of your addiction. ■■■■ and masturbation are at their core selfishness. Selfless service is the best weapon to fight them.

Not sure I would call self destruction a selfish act, still service will tie up your time from porn. Just make sure its service you can derive joy and purpose from.

Definitely selfish. You’re not thinking about “I’m gonna destroy my brain cells and social life and possibly turn suicidal.” you’re thinking “how can I please myself? How can I make my day better? I deserve to feel good!” when you turn that on its head and say “how can I make someone else’s day better? How can I make someone else feel good? They deserve more than this.” it changes you. I don’t care whether you think the service will fulfill you or not. It’s not meant to fulfill you. It’s meant to fulfill them. But the miracle of it is that you are fulfilled by it. "he who seeks to save his life (selfishness) shall lose it. He who shall lose his life for my sake (selfless service) shall find it.

If I have a choice between having a broken leg fixed or taking a drug that makes it worse but makes me feel better I would have to have seriously low selfesteem or control to go ahead and take the drug. sure it is selfish but so is quiting it comes down to what you value.

hey, I believe we have to do the same non believers have to do, like use porn blockers, creating new good habits, improving family/afective relationship and, of course, try to be closer to God (prayer, meditation, sacraments and those things) - go deep in our spirituality.

And yet there are people who do it all the time. They don’t want to cure the cause because it’s hard to do. That’s human nature man. If you haven’t experienced that you haven’t experienced true addiction. Why do people do meth, coke, mj, cigarettes, or even pain old alcoholic beverages. Human nature is to care about here and now. Our God given task is to over come the natural bad tendencies we all have. You can’t say someone had bad self esteme because they’re human.
