Same bro, maybe we should tell someone close to us or looking for new friend with the same vision we can share, to help remind every time if urges coming. I feel your pain, you can text or reply me if you want. Never give up🔥
Hey bro! I really want to help but I don’t have any energy to type right now.
So if I may tag someone, maybe we need @FaithfulWalker help I’m sorry to bother you, Prayer Warrior. But I don’t have any other person in mind who can give so much wisdom.
It’s great that you’re committed to starting this journey again, and the fact that you’ve already managed to get to a week is an accomplishment in itself! The urges can feel overwhelming, but there are definitely strategies to help you navigate them and increase your self-control over time.
Here are a few tips that might help you:
Understand Your Triggers: Identify the situations or emotions that lead to your urges. Is it stress, boredom, or certain environments? By recognizing your triggers, you can better prepare yourself to avoid or deal with them.
Stay Busy: One of the most effective ways to combat urges is to redirect your energy. Engage in activities that keep your mind and body busy. Exercise, learn a new skill, read, or work on a project. Keeping your mind occupied reduces the chance of falling into old habits.
Mindfulness & Meditation: Learning how to manage your thoughts through mindfulness techniques can help you distance yourself from the urge. Meditation can help you become more aware of the sensations you’re feeling without acting on them.
Accountability: Consider having a friend or online community that you can check in with. Sometimes knowing someone is there to support you or hold you accountable can help during tough moments.
Small Wins Matter: Instead of focusing on long-term goals, break it down into smaller milestones. Celebrate reaching one day, then three days, then five days, etc. These small wins will build momentum and help you realize progress, even if you slip up once in a while.
Physical Activity: Exercise is a great way to release pent-up energy and tension. It helps reduce stress and can redirect your focus. It also helps with mood regulation, so it’s a great tool when dealing with urges.
Develop Healthy Habits: Sometimes the reason we revert to old habits is because of underlying routines or behaviors. Try to replace the habit with something more positive, like reading, drawing, or a creative outlet.
Self-Compassion: Don’t be too hard on yourself if you slip up. Every journey has its ups and downs. The key is to learn from the experience and get back on track without feeling guilty or discouraged.
Remember that progress is not always linear. It’s about consistently improving and not giving up. Take it day by day, and you’ll build stronger control as you go. How have you been feeling about your progress overall?
One thing that really woke me up was looking up an image of the brain of an addict vs a normal brain- it really forced me to face the truth of what I was participating in and how it was really affecting my wellbeing.
I hope this helps- praying for you
