I don’t quit PMO… I’m a new person who doesn’t need to PMO anymore. It’s an identity switch!

Yes that’s what this is about. I’ve found that there’s not even an urge now to watch porn or masturbate feels pretty easy

Always remember “Your actions is a vote for the kind of person you want to be”.
This post wasn’t written by me but I found this same thought process in many books, blogs and podcasts so it helped me. And I wish the same for you that is why I recommend you read it.

Any thoughts on the post?

Dear @Ritesh_k99,

You have raised many valid points in the above post.

I concur with your point of making brahmacharya a lifestyle and that too without any greed of some sort of benefit which is very much same message of Nishkam Karma Yoga in Bhagvadgeeta and Buddha’s philosophy of Doing Good For Good’s Sake without any ulterior motive.

I also agree with replacing bad and negative thoughts with good, positive and constructive thoughts to keep abay from triggers. But ofcourse that comes from a bit of initial efforts and that is worth a shot.

I understand that initially people tend to discuss about their addiction and I think that’s fine to get rid of anxiety and curiosity. It’s ok as long as they do not affect your inner devil. But I think eventually we must move away from worthless discussions.

Coming to the addiction aspect- it’s the neural wiring in our brain which is result of our own action in wants of temporary pleasure. Addictions are formed with regular and repeated behaviour which in turn release pleasure hormones like dopamine, serotonin etc for a while and leave the addict to crave more of it eventually- undermining the natural functioning of our brain.

In my opinion the diamond cuts diamond. To get rid of bad habit, we must adopt a good habit. Any passion which can produce that amount of pleasure can beat the addiction. It maybe mastering a foreign language, a musical instrument, becoming millionaire, service to mankind or ultimate liberation… The moment you find that alternative, stick to it like a leech, follow it no matter what. and with time you will see the good habit taking over the bad habit.

And yes, being in control of our own reins is the great feeling each of us truly deserve.
We are the masters and not the slave.

All the best!

You misunderstood my comment. Didn’t you saw the “lol” I wrote. This was more like a Reddit reply This wasn’t a serious criticism. I appreciate the time and effort you put for the post and I really hope people would find it helpful so that your efforts doesn’t go in vain.

Too long but definitely worth the read…
I can corelate this to a Geeta lesson “Attain a higher purpose in life, discard the lower pleasures”

Also, I feel PMO is nothing but one of the manifestations of procrastination… I have rarely found very active people being addicted to this.

Also all these addictions boil down to the personality traits… whether the person is tamasic, rajasic or sattvic.

d99ed2 its mine…why i can’t add you…

I agree brother @JumpingBuddha. There’s one more thing called alpha los b that’s the pathway that gets created but over long term if you let it just be it fades coz you’re not using it so initially if you’re like I am not the person who masturbates or watches porn it gets easier to do other things. And yes to remove one bad habit you need to capture or introduce multiple good habits around that time that you previously used to go into the addiction cycle.

For that I’ve introduced:

  1. Exercising in the evening
  2. Meditating
  3. Listening to audiobooks rather than reading Book coz it’s easier to do that
  4. Shutting my mobile at 9 and laptop at 10
  5. Making beds and my room a no internet zone.

These are my main keystone habits ie exercising, getting up early , meditating and planning my day the night before and if I’m satisfied with these I don’t even carve that porn thing.

There’s also this mentality for me to treat porn and masturbation for what they are ie poison for my mental health, relationships, physical health and contribution to the society and when any lustful or persistent thoughts come I see it for what it is and nothing stands infront of the truth.

This is my system currently.

Sorry I misunderstood brother.

Yes this is one of those serious truths. I never remember getting into the addiction when I was satisfied with my day, ie when I have done my work, and attained the higher purposes.

Most Powerful and Simple Philosophy… You don’t Ride Two Boats Simultaneously :+1:

@Ritesh_k99 you are right To follow Long term Brahmacharya. We need to regularly avoid looking at Counter… We are Not Zero…
It was a process, Sometimes we fail It doesn’t mean we are Zero…
I was fucking obsessed with Counter… That’s why I demotivated and I think it was the reason behind chaser effect :smirk:

I have from the start never cared about if it’s back to 0 or what day it is. I just made the point to do less and less every month.
