Chapter 1-3 :white_check_mark:

I must say this book is captivating and so relatable. Having read β€œYour Brain on ■■■■” book earlier, this seems like a continuation of the demistyfication of this monster. I can say without any doubt that it was until I started reading books that I noted how messed up I was/I’m (still battling the urges) just like Hackauthor has highlighted.

This 3 chapters brings up the essence of why you need to read Easy Peasy. I wanna point out some key things ive picked up so far:

  • It is the fear that’s preventing us from cutting ties with this habit , no, its an addiction not an habit :slightly_smiling_face:.
  • Get to gauge how messed up you are and then quit slowly (but for someone like me who has been quitting and relapsing after long streaks of even 180+days, there is no turning back)
  • Zero advantages from β– β– β– β–  bro ! why is it hard for us to quit then ! misery, we have fried our brains.
  • This thing is a trap, such that you can stop, or at least pause, after an incident has happened, rings PE/ED, depression right?

He wraps up by pointing on two main contributors of β– β– β– β–  addiction : internet β– β– β– β–  and societal brainwashing.

Lets continue reading and bringing up our opinions and experience guys. I’d like to know whats working/not working for you.

β†’ Coolidge effect

β†’ It’s essential to understand that you’re giving up absolutely nothing whatsoever

β†’ β– β– β– β–  doesn’t cure withdrawal symptoms, it causes them

β†’ β– β– β– β–  isn’t habit, it’s drug addiction

β†’ The human body is the most sophisticated object on the planet, but no species, even the lowest amoeba or worm, survives without knowing the difference between food and poison

β†’ Users will automatically refrain from using internet β– β– β– β–  in their parents’ home during family gatherings and other events with little discomfort. In fact, most users have extended periods during which they abstain without effort. The neurological little monster is easy to cope with even when you’re still addicted. There are millions of users who remain casual users all their lives and they’re just as addicted as the heavy user. There are even heavy users who’ve kicked the addiction but have an occasional peek, greasing the water slide to be ridden down at the next dip in mood

β†’ It may be of consolation to lifelong and heavy users that it’s just as easy for them to stop as casual users, and in a peculiar way it’s easier. The further it drags you down, the greater the relief. When I stopped I went straight to zero and didn’t have one bad pang. In fact, the process was actually enjoyable even during the withdrawal period

Shit I was busy and didn’t read a chapter after 3. But will find time soon and read all the left chapters. Although these 3 chapters made me see β– β– β– β–  as waste
