Should i quit playing video games!

Like Nofap … they say quitting video games has similiar benefits like

Increase in motivation.
Playing sports outside.
Making friends in soceity.
Better use of free time.
Giving time to family and more such benefits.

I think it is true… but at this stage of my nofap journey when i have little energy and when i get exhausted and bored… video games help me to uplift my mood. When my dad get drunk and abuse us… video games helps to distract me from the situation. So thats why i am confused right now.

So, what should i do ?
Am i ready for this … !!!

You are. The right thing to do doesn’t require right time. If it’s right. do it.

You wont ever be ready until you do it. Were you ever ready when you began to pmo? Were you ever ready when you began no-pmo? Were you ever ready when you started video games?

I assume no… you just did it right? Because you saw and understood what it could provide you at the time and did it because of various reasons. Now it’s become a habit.

Identify these reasons. Take stock of triggers. Replace it with more productive endeavors. There is no excuse for not doing something you know in your heart to be the greatest truth. All the best man!

Video games are cool. I don’t think they should be compared with porn, there are millions of gamers in the world and it doesn’t mean everyone is introvert and doesn’t hangout with friends. If you play multiplayer games, you are actually interacting with people around the world. For some, videogames are life. I played a game called ‘Call Of Duty - World At War’ and it made me feel the horrors of war, the suffering g of soldiers in ww2. All I want to say that some videogames can even inspire you to do something great.

hello Couragous,
I think a long-term goal to quit video games may be a very good idea, but I wouldn’t force this!
From what you’re telling gaming helps you to cope with stress, it’s a reward, when you’re exhausted and maybe helps you to handle negative emotions as well. If you quit it on the spot and you’re stressed but don’t have a good alternative you basically begging to relapse on ■■■■.
So maybe you could try for the moment to focus on establishing other habits to cope with these things. Maybe with Mediation, Sport (especially in a group with other people) or other hobbies that get you to connect socially. But on bad days by all means go back to gaming.
You get what I’m trying to say?

I was escaping from my problems to video games and pornography. I have been addicted to both of them, wasted my youth and so much time. Today I regret it and if I could, I would never jump into that pit.

Goog luck on that !!

I think it is a good decision to do more outdoor life and less videogames. Although, I don’t think videogames are a bad thing if you don’t abuse of it. Anyway, hope the best.

I’m sorry to hear about your dad drinking and abuses, that must be tough. Beware on that and get help if it harm you to much.

I am in the same situation as you, I use video games to escape my problems, but I know that it is similar to P, the point in common between them is “instant gratification”, I am trying to change my lifestyle, but it is not that easy to do…
