I’m a 17-year-old male from India, and I’m determined to overcome my long-standing addiction to pornography and masturbation, which has plagued me since I was 13.
While I’m no stranger to the no-fap movement, I often find inspiration in the success stories shared here. However, I’ve never taken the time to document my own journey and insights. My most successful attempt at quitting lasted nearly a month, but lately, I’ve found myself reverting to watching pornography and masturbating every other day.
Today, I’m challenging myself once again to quit pornography and masturbation (HARDMODE) for 21 days, from September 29, 2024, to October 20, 2024.
I plan to journal daily about my progress, identifying triggers, strategies that work (and those that don’t), and the physical and mental benefits I experience along the way.

Why I Want to Quit (REASON)
Pornography and masturbation are draining my time and energy, diverting my focus from studies and career-building. My life is in my hands, and I aspire to achieve something significant (मुझे ज़िंदगी में कुछ करना है). To do that, I need to break free from these habits.
My Triggers & Strategies for Coping
- Overthinking & Inaction
- I’ll implement the SMART technique to plan my next day each night, helping me combat analysis paralysis.
- Straying from My Daily Routine
- Visual Reminders:
- Keep my calendar visible on both desktop and mobile devices to stay on track.
- Use two jars: place soft nails in one jar and move them to another as I complete tasks. This will give me a sense of progress.
- Wasting Time on YouTube & Reddit
- Intentional Browsing: Before opening these apps, I’ll set specific goals. Once accomplished, I’ll exit the site.
- Set Time Limits: Utilize apps like Cold Turkey on desktop and App Blocker on Android to restrict usage.
- Limit YouTube and Telegram to 30 minutes.
- Prioritize following my routine instead.

Yesterday, I watch Pursuit of Happyness movie, and I really like it. Will recommend everyone to watch it.
What I learn from the movie is just show up everyday no matter how you feel (whether you like it or not). And that’s what I will try to apply in my nofap journey.

But I sleep a lot in the day, as go to bed late at night. Cannot study much also .

Yesterday night, I relapsed
Triggers:- get horny & searching sexual content like boobs etc. After that go to Telegram, & search sexual channels & see gifs & masturbate.
What can I do to improve:
- Now I block Telegram using App Blocker, & block certain keywords
- I understand that every blocker will have loopholes, so the best blocker is my mind only.
- I also make a post to search for accountability partners, so that will make me more accountable for my actions related to indulge in these activities
