Nofap and lifting

Hi,
I have been lifting for 6 months now and seeing that my gains are getting slower (since I got past the nooby gains phase) I thought that starting nofap could only help me pick up the pace at which I progress. There are 2 main pieces of research that prouve the benefits of nofap on testosterone (therefore the benefits on athletic performance), but they have both been more or less debunked. So experience might be more helpful than research in this case.
Has anybody had a past experience of lifting and nofap? Have you noticed any positive/negative effect?
Thank you for taking the time to read and answer.

I can’t find anything to back up the theories that people come up with in regards to NoFap and exercise. Its important not to expect an extra boost to your fitness when you are on NoFap because when you realise that its not affecting you the way people told you it would, you risk becoming demotivated altogether.

This is a problem I have with the NoFap community in general and why I’ll probably be quitting these forums soon. Unrealistic expectations are all over the forums and its a dangerous thing for people who easily lose motivation when they think there is something wrong with them because they aren’t becoming the “gods” that other posters told them they could be.

From your name I’m guessing you’re on the Stronglifts 5x5 routine which is great (Thats what I started with too). You might have just plateaued on that routine and may be ready for something different. SS 5x5 is good but really limited when you get beyond the beginner phase. I moved on to a Push/Pull/Legs split I found on reddit and its been good so far.

Keep at it bro and try not to worry about any positives/negatives from NoFap. Just lift heavy, sleep well and eat properly and the gains shall be upon you!

I have to support @ghostfacekilobyte13 . I, too, am seeing those unrealistic expectations mentioned by him/her (still, don’t leave these forums! We need more people like you commenting to shift the perception, even if it’s just for a tiny bit)!

The only thing I can add is that I, when being on a longer streak and starting to get a better grip on my life in general, noticed a boost in concentration. This is nothing that comes from not fapping directly (so no testosterone or anything like that), it’s just part of getting a clearer mind that was clouded by my addiction before.
Better concentration helped me during workout, because I was able to move my body in better way, which meant I was doing exercises somehow “more right” than before and thus profiting in a better way by the same amount of training.
But, again, this was just something a better concentration did to me, and it only worked for me specifically because I picked up sports quite late in life and didn’t have a very good feeling how to move and use my muscles in general.

I thought I was alone in my skepticism on here! haha.

You touched on a great point there too. I do believe there is a level of mental elevation experienced from PMO abstinence or at least a more elevated state than before. Concentration is definitely altered, at least in my own experience.

When I put those thoughts out of my head I find that I have a far clearer mind. Not to mention all the extra time I seem to have now!

you are definitely not the only one. I know that I won’t be a god after 3 days of not fapping. And I’m also always a bit sceptical about major physical changes after just some days.

You guys cannot imagine how nice it is to read some soberness and scepticism! It seems that we definetly have too little of it in both directions (over indulging in â– â– â– â–  and over estimating noporn/nofap). So I can only agree with @amadeus and beg you @ghostfacekilobyte13 not to live this place in the hands of people who claim to have done better in some weeks/months as evolution did in million of years  wish you all a good night:)

Endurance is ruined by wasting your dopamine on masturbation

Thank you guys for responding. So I’ll:
1- Expect more endurance and mental clarity.
2- Still not expect to become a god.
Seems reasonable hahah.
Cheers.
