NO JERK JUNE ( only for courageous titans)

It does not matter which group I am in. All which comes to my mind by seeing whatsapp is that p is available readily.

@HappySoul brother, no offence but just read and try to understand my point…
I know you are addicted to this stuff so we are all but addiction level is different for everyone… I am observing that you have been trying and giving your best to overcome from this addiction and you are doing great, you are one among few companions whome I admired when I joined this app 6months ago (through heroes 90days challenge, when you had bradley Cooper as your avatar) and I saw you progressing little by little and thought, why am I the only one who cannot cross even 10days, I am also overcoming this addiction just like you are and your efforts can be seen in this forum but I have read your messages multiple times (you are not willing to hear even the slightest of p words or triggering words of any kind even the smallest things seems triggering to you), consider me as a friend, companion or whatever you want but we have to understand that this world is not in our control and we cannot control everything we watch (some thing or other will pop up now or then even we try to control it as much as possible) but we have to develop that self control and disciple that these small things or triggers do not bother us and this small wins over small things will have a compounding effect on us and we will be able to control big triggers easily one day… You just have to think brother, that are you this weak that you are getting triggered from even the slightest of stuff or are you stronger than them!
You don’t have enough discipline to control your urges and emotions that these triggers can give you orders to relapse or you have all the control over yourself that you can throw these shitty triggers out of your life and just ignore them (they will not have any power and influence on you) don’t think it from any other way bcoz I tried to message this to you personally but it was showing that happy soul is not accepting messages right now. Consider it just an advice from a brother if you want, hoping the best for you, you got this, believe in yourself!!

When we relapsed after a long streak then mind gets demotivated as to start from Day 0. Due to that depressed feelings we tend to fall on the trap of chaser effect… After passing the initial days the positive effects of No fap kick off for me. In order to retain that positive energy i start battling with Urges and Temptation not to relapse and feel depressed again. No worries Bro…We’re with you in this battle. Fight back like warrior with the Urges. :facepunch:

Thanks for sharing @MM2020, yes, I’ve always said that each time we conquer an urge we are becoming more and more stronger. Now on 75th day when I look back my urges has reduced by 80-90%. I get urges very rarely. But when I think about the urges that I fought from day 1-47 I feel like a real warrior. I promise you brother, it wasn’t an easy thing. It was real hard. Sometimes my head felt like it would explode at the moment. I had insomnia. Urges didn’t allow me to sleep and took me through a lot of pain. A man who is ready to take the Challenge urges gives can only win in this Journey. We have to take this real serious.
We have to get into an attitude where we’ll choose death instead of ■■■■. With this attitude success is sure!

Yes @HappySoul, I also wanted to tell you about it. This is 21st century bro. There will be triggers everywhere. You go to a mall and look around, ads with half naked women. We have to create a certain amount of will power, strength and seriousness within us to turn our head suddenly after seeing it.
What @selfconqurer said is 100% true.
You are strong man @HappySoul. We all love your presence here and you are great companion too.
But think about this. We cannot delete all the triggers. Only our inner strength and will power can take us to success in this journey.

Yes brother. I am able to defeat non-screen triggers relatively easily.

I am giving myself time to increase inner strength by establishing strict blocks. Only blocking seems to work for me these days. But ultimately that peace and strength is desired which will come only with time.

My problem is severe these days. Earlier I was not affected by mild triggers and so I can understand what others want to say in this regard. But these days, the addiction is on another level. If I fight the urges due to open sources, I become weaker instead of becoming stronger. The ego depletion theory works on severe addicts. The more you utilise your willpower, the lesser it becomes. For example, if someone resists strong urges in morning and afternoon, then not enough willpower battery will be left for night and he may relapse due to exhaustion. That is why I am eliminating triggers, so that I can give rest to the brain and focus on other things.
After some days, it will not be so. The more you utilise your willpower, the stronger it gets. But those days are not these days.

The following is an excerpt from a book explaining this willpower issue.

THE NEW SCIENCE OF WILLPOWER
As science is advancing, the study of the human brain is revealing a lot about what we previously didn’t know about our brains. I tag this “new” because some recent researches have given a new perspective on the centers of the brain responsible for willpower.
And these perspectives can be leveraged and tailored in order to effect real change.
Numerous researches conducted in an effort to determine what impairs willpower, or the extent to which an individual can exercise willpower in the face of temptation all came to very interesting conclusions.
[RESEARCH I/SCENARIO I]
In 1998, Roy Baumeister and his colleagues published a research titled “Ego Depletion: Is the Active Self a Limited Resource?” He claimed that choice, active response, self-regulation, and other volition may all draw on a common inner resource.
In the study, two sets of groups were asked to choose between two plates of food. One plate contained unappetizing red and white radishes while the second plate contained fresh-baked cookies.
One group was told to choose the radish while the other group was told to choose the fresh-baked cookies. The reasoning behind this was that the group that was asked to choose the plate containing the radish while staring at the enticing cookies would have used a considerable amount of willpower in order to resist choosing the cookies.
After these, the researchers gave both groups a puzzle to solve. What the researchers intentionally didn’t tell the participants was that the puzzle was unsolvable. In the study, there was a third group which served as the control.
This group was just given the unsolvable puzzle to work on without the previous task of choosing a food. What the researchers wanted to find out was how long each of the groups would stay on the puzzle before they gave up.
The group who had denied themselves of the cookies lasted for an average of just eight minutes on the puzzle. The group that ate the yummy cookie and the control group lasted for an average of nineteen minutes on the puzzle.
This showed that the groups that didn’t previously use their willpower had more willpower to draw on whilst doing the puzzle. This enabled them to be able to stay on the puzzle longer (more than double the time) than the group that had previously used willpower to resist the yummy cookies.
Where Ego Depletion theory currently stand
The research became an instant hit all around the world. The study had been cited over 3,000 times since it was first published. And since then, the research theory has been dubbed THE EGO DEPLETION THEORY.
Why this study was widely accepted was that it gave a very tangible and reasonable explanation for a phenomenon that has been occurring in our lives from time to time.
Although numerous researches that confirmed the ego depletion theory have been conducted, in recent times, the theory has met with various forms of criticism on its validity.
Firstly, there had been a failed joint replication attempt of the study by 23 different labs recently. Also, a recent study in India even found an evidence for reverse ego depletion.
Secondly, some people believe that the ego depletion that occurred in the first experiment by Baumeister was because of the belief of the participants and that’s why it’s been difficult to replicate the results.
But recently, there have been two new studies led by Katie Garrison at Texas A&M University. And up till date, these new studies have given the strongest evidence supporting the ego depletion theory yet.
The studies involved relatively large samples and were preregistered, meaning the methods and hypotheses were made publicly available prior to data collection. This practice reduces the risk of false-positive or spurious results.
The study pointed towards mental fatigue after continuous use of the decision making part of the brain and this led to a series of mistakes by the participants in subsequent tests which is again consistent with the ego depletion theory.
Take-away from Research I/Scenario I
The takeaway from the ego depletion theory is that; irrespective of whether it is real or it is something that merely occurs because of our beliefs, when it comes to addictive and compulsive behaviors, the ego depletion theory is REAL for an addict.
Why this is so is because if it weren’t real, there would be nothing like a RELAPSE. People would easily break any form of addiction anytime they have the will and surmountable need to do so.
Also, if ego depletion theory is a thing of the mind, then the addict is at a disadvantage because he/she already believes that he/she doesn’t have enough willpower to overcome the addiction, and this belief would form a sort of cyclic loop of willpower, relapse, binging, in that order.
One other thing that is worth mentioning here is that the addict is already suffering from hypofrontality. The brain volume of the area responsible for willpower is reduced for most addicts. And brain volume has been associated with the ability to express the cognitive functioning that the region is responsible for.
That is, the more pronounced the brain volume of a particular region of the brain is, the more the ability of the individual to express the cognitive functioning attached to that region.
Although with time and constant use of the region (pre-frontal cortex in this context), the brain volume of the region increases. But initially, the expression of willpower by the addict is LIMITED.
And irrespective of whether the ego depletion theory is real or not, when it comes to an addict, the concept of hypofrontality points to the realness of the theory.

[RESEARCH II/SCENARIO II]
Numerous researches and studies have revealed that the brain consumes a staggering 60% of the total glucose that our bodies synthesize. Glucose is the fuel of the brain.
What this tells us is that the brain feeds on glucose. The brain requires a continuous supply of glucose. About 120g (420kcal/1760kJ) of glucose is consumed by the brain daily. The power in “willpower” is actually glucose.
In 2011, a study by Danziger et al. observed eight parole judges on their decision to grant parole relative to their breakfast and lunchtime. 1,112 judicial rulings made over 50 days in a 10-month period were examined.
The study found that those judges were far more likely to grant parole (about 70% of the time) early in the morning right after eating a meal and right after their lunch break.
Hours after their meals, the decision to grant parole was close to zero. So, this implies that when the judges had not
eaten (had depleted glucose level in their blood), they opted for the easiest decision which was not to grant parole.
In 2007, another research attempted to find the relationship between the food we eat and willpower. Students were split into 3 groups and given different types of breakfast to see the effect these food types would have on the willpower and academic performance of these students.
The first group of students was given a healthy low-glycemic breakfast which contains foods like fruits, eggs, and oatmeal.
The second group of students was given an unhealthy high-glycemic breakfast which contains foods like bagels, muffins, and pop-tarts. The third group was given no breakfast at all.
Without the previous knowledge of which student was in which group, teachers were asked to rate each of the students on their behavior and academic performance during the periods of 8:00 am to 10:30 am.
The study found that the group of students with the healthy low-glycemic breakfast greatly outperformed the other groups. They were focused, had a considerable amount of concentration on the tasks they were given, well behaved, and showed genuine interest in learning throughout the hours they were observed.
The group of students that ate the unhealthy high-glycemic breakfast showed good behavior, high rate of focus for the first hour only. But after 9 am, they started to act out and they lost their focus.
What this showed the researchers was that although the brain needs a constant supply of glucose, refined sugar or artificial source of glucose will cause more harm to the brain’s willpower center than good.
Consuming this type of glucose will cause a spike in the blood glucose level and this will lead to the body releasing insulin in an attempt to regulate the level of the glucose and this will cut-off the glucose supply to the brain after a short while. Basically, a “sugar high” eventually leads to a “brain low”.
Finally, the third group of students that didn’t eat any breakfast performed the worst on all measures. They were unmotivated, inattentive, undisciplined, and unfocused throughout the entire morning period.
PUTTING ALL THE PIECES TOGETHER
Research I/Scenario I showed that repeatedly exercising willpower actually depletes it. The implication of this in porn addiction or NoFap context is that if you start having porn cravings from the morning and you keep resisting it through the afternoon, in the night, you might suddenly find yourself watching porn.
After you are done watching it, you start wondering why you weren’t able to resist a little longer through the night. Well, I think you know why now.
Ego depletion theory also showed that after a task that utilizes the frontal cortex, willpower exertion might be impaired.
[My personal Experience] Before I knew this and I was trying to stay off porn, I discovered something that I
thought was weird at the time. Every time I finished trading or in the middle of it, I always had this huge craving for porn. And 99% of the time, I would give in to the craving. It was so uncanny that I started thinking that there has to be a connection between trading and fapping.
Thanks to Science for shedding some light on this.
Research II/Scenario II stated earlier showed that when there is a shortage of glucose to the brain, willpower might be impaired.
According to Gailliot and Baumeister, “Acts of self-control deplete relatively large amounts of glucose. Self-control failures are more likely when glucose is low or cannot be MOBILIZED effectively to the brain. Restoring glucose to a sufficient level typically improves self-control”.
What all these researches make us know is that in one form or the other, either through the theory of ego depletion or blood glucose usage, willpower is actually like a CURRENCY that is being spent. It is like a battery that has to be charged in order to work effectively.
When you think about it from this perspective, it changes a lot about your porn addiction and NoFap journey.
HOW DO I SUPERCHARGE MY WILLPOWER?
There are two parts in trying to supercharge willpower for effectiveness. First, we aim to reduce situations whereby willpower will be required while doing the NoFap challenge or staying off porn altogether.
Secondly, we make sure that our willpower batteries are always charged so that it will be enough when we actually do need to use it.
