Meditation problems during the early days of NoFap

How do I properly start to meditate during my early days of my NoFap journey? I want to know the proper way to meditate. People say, focus on your breath. If I focus on my breath, I start controlling the duration of each breath and suddenly it feels very irritating, like if I stop controlling my breath, I will die. This goes away after I start thinking of something else and I start breathing involuntarily, as I normally do. It’s like if I lay down in a silent room and try to hear minute sounds, like that of a ticking clock, or a moving fan, it starts to irritate me and I can’t go to sleep. People say, sit upright and meditate. But, I can’t spend even 5 minutes with a straight spine, not leaning on anything, and my back starts to ache. I also get tickling sensations in different parts of my body, like an insect might be sitting on my hands, or an ant is passing over my legs,etc., but actually it’s nothing. How do I curb this inner restlessness?

If it feels very irritating, it’s a good sign. An emotion is coming, go through the uncomfortable feeling.
Accept that it is uncomfortable, it is your time to transcend and Feel, feel your body.
Breathing in a controlled way, make you more conscious of your body and emotions, as a result very strong emotions can rise and strange sensation can be felt.
Meditation can be a tool to integrate the feelings that you are running away from.
All the sign that you are speaking about is emotions rising in your conscious, aches in your muscle, feel it completely without moving and keep breathing.
Meditation is about attention and observation, focus on your sensations, make a decision to do it for 15 to 30 minutes, and don’t change your position or meditation. Just observe that you have back pain, that you feel very irritable, that you have tingling sensations, come back to the body everytime you are in your head.

Thanks for your reply. It gave me some important clues. I wanted to shift my focus from external discomfort to internal peace. Maybe if I sort out and accept my external discomfort, only then I can gain internal peace.

One day, a budist discobered that activity was good for him and the other budists monks. So they started doing exercise. After years, that exercise they were doing, became a fight style: kung-fu
If you dont move, meditation will be very hard. So start doing some sport before meditation. You also can try a martial art class which have meditation. Tai-chi, Kung-fu, Aikido, Chi-kung, Karate.

Thanks for the tip! Yes, I usually stretch my hands and legs before doing meditation. I might mix that up with more physical activity and then I’ll come back to meditate.

Another tip to meditate is cold showers. Try it before your meditation.

No, you do not have external discomfort, it is internal, you have discomfort with feeling your body.
If you want to “gain” internal peace the only way is to feel whathever your body is telling you (aches muscle, emotions, tingling)
And if it’s difficult, it’s a very good sign that you will benefit from doing it. Stay with your practice and change it only when you have explored everything but not right now.
Hope’s it help, I am practicing 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes evening, sometimes while doing yoga, I put my attention to my body to relax it, and let go of emotions or stress.

A meditation master has said, " You cant meditate if you have no peace in mind and you cant have peace unless you are in meditation."
If you are not in present moment you cant meditate. Your mind is agitated and full of problems of past or future. It is very hard to meditate.
So 1st Make your mind peaceful.
Do Pranyama a breathing excercise before sitting in meditation. It purpose is to calm you. Search Pranyama yoga on youtube.
Always Remember Meditation has no Goal It is aimless

Try to sit in a comfortably erect sitting position while crossing your legs. If you cant sit. Take help of a chair. You can also lay straight on floor if you cant sit on chair.

Try to be in present moment while closing your eyes. Listening to whatever voices or noises is coming. Let your random thoughts come and go. Dont force anything Just let it be.let the breathes come and go naturaly.Do meditation as long as you can do.
If its just 2 minutes in starting. Let it be. The main thing is how regularly you do meditation.

I have just started meditation. I generaly do it before sleeping to calm my thoughts
It is very difficult if you are on 1st week of nofap
It is easy to meditate once you are near to 1 month mark.

Thanks! If I speak about my current position, I have consistency in nothing except fapping regularly for 8 years. I start big but end up weak. Every semester, I exceed everybody in studies during the first half, and then when the final semester examination comes, I am not prepared with many topics and my working memory is so low that I forget whatever I read…even if I start weeks before the exam.

They also say that meditation can also happen with open eyes. I mean during day work when you are fully in present moment. Your consciousness is very high that time. You see all people as a part of the world. Your fear is gone and you find joy in doing labour.

Fapping and porn are taking us to our death.
Make your mind soon before any fatal disease take over you. 8 yrs already gone in toilet. Time to rise up.

Yeah thanks! I have learnt Rajayoga from Brahmakumaris, i.e. meditation with open eyes.
Looks like its time to apply that.

My advice is to sit in a chair with your back straight, it is not wrong to give support to your back,
Another trick is to use meditation earplugs, you’ll probably find them in any medical store.
So after you are insulated from the sounds outside, take 10 slow breaths, after that try to listen to the sound inside you like heartbeat, breathing etc. You just have to focus on those voices for some time. After 5 or 10 minutes of doing that you’ll start to hear a weird sound, that can be of a cricket, raindrops etc it depends on your mind. As the sound is completely unknown to the brain, the brain will automatically diverts it attention towards the sound and you don’t have to push yourself to focus.

For early nofappers i believe mantra mediatation is better.Because it silence any porn related thoughts.
