I found some of the best ways to block adult content (literally)

for the past one or two months i have been experimenting with many blockers and ways to block yotutube shorts and everything, and finally i have settled down for a somewhat best way to block everything up for good..and i wanted to share what i found, quite a lot

fist it starts with “plucky” (PC)

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee, for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. — Matt 5:29 and was mentioned in their web page

even though i agnostic i liked the concept, well this app basically does what it mentioned, blocks, images plus videos in a browser and works by installing extension on browser and is not unninstallable simply, must wait for the delay(which you set), also if needed by a single click could be installed system wide, and specific educational or personal favorite websites could be allowed by waiting for the set delay(by you)

you shouldnt try to unninstall by any other way other than pressing the button they give to unninstall, if attempted loss of internet is the result(but recoverable)

i really recommend reading their manual first before putting the delay to a longer period, know the risk..

second off “cold turkey”(PC)

this could be used to block “■■■■” specifically itself, and after this application is locked(by you), until the locked period is over the ■■■■ block wouldnt be lifted, even if tried to install a new browser cold turkey simply disables the browser within 1 minute unless cold turkey extension is present..cold turkey extension shouldnt be removed from the already installed browsers, if did, that specific browser will be blocked..

while there are ways to bypass this, using it wih the combination of plucky ensures safety, and cold turkey is improving

third : covenant eyes

actually i havent used it, but i do know the features of it, it basically doeswhat the name of it says, just send diagnostic data, if watched ■■■■ the data is sent to the accountability partner, as a whole but it doesnt quite get to exactly what watched to protect pricay, sends a daily, or weekly report to the accountability partner, thats all i know about it

StayFocusd Website Blocker & Focus Timer & Shorts Blocker

this blocks shorts in desktop, and has a nuke option which just nukes your home so you dont watch anything anymore infact you wouldnt even touch the mobile to watch ■■■■, you dead

just kidding, the nuke feature once enabled cannot be disabled for the set time, and needs a really really long sentence to be written inorder to disable that..

Andoff(android)

this is app is a bit difficult to set up, but once set a game changer, it needs device owner privilege to be activated which is the highest privilege in all, even greater than device admin privilege, so addictional steps must be taken, this app could protect ■■■■ blocking apps from being deleted, infact if an app is protected, unninstall button wouldnt even exist neither in settings nor playstore, the ultimate protector..

this is the android equivalent of plucky, and was developed by the same devoloper, same account should be used on andoff, which is used in plucky too

Blockerx (android)

this app blocks ■■■■ thats it, and needs a long paragraph to be written to bypass..

Blockerhero (android)

this one it has a 24 hour feature, which if you turned one, and you need to disable the blocker it starts a 24 hour timer, and once its over the blocker is disabled, other than that, this app also has YT shorts blocker, which blocks obviously YT shorts, and even the timer applies to this..

SPIN(android)

this is a browser with safe searching built in, no adult content could be viewed using this browser, i would recommend using Andoff and blocking other browsers and then protect this browser, also andoff has a feature which blocks any apps which are newly installed and to default that new app the delay should be waited..well then blockers could be useless BUT this is because some specific website wouldnt work on SPIN so chrome should be used and you could default chrome and then use chrome to view that website and block it again..

thats all i found there was more but was inefficient..

my spellings and english is a bit inconsistent sorry for that

I was doing the cold turkey. I remember ,it has some extreme mode which uninstalls chrome if u go against it . I had to root it to get it back.

Very effective but very dangerous at the same time.

maybe extreme measures is needed for extreme results isn’t it??

well, i see you have used “was“, what blocker do you use right now i wonder..

have you tried plucky though?

I personally use NextDns in all my devices for ■■■■ blocking. I use the paid version, but free version offers enough queries per month that will suffice a user.

just a quick heads up, is it fragile if stress tested??

like if right now you think you dont want the app and wanna delete is it possible instantly or ..it is designed atleast for a delay, judging from the DNS it must be system wide, but if editable i dont see any potential

It can be easily removed, it uses system dns settings. So that way it’s quite fragile. :slightly_smiling_face:

well, given there is so much options in the internet why not use them??

instead of knowing it is fragile and yet usiing it, why not try something else,

ah, i see you use the paid version isn’t it, thats fine bud you could still layer it up with something else so you don’t have to worry about money being wasted..

For me personally, I don’t use blockers to force me not to watch bad stuff, I use them to keep me in the safe zone, to prevent me from seeing pop ups or adds or sudden bad reals or images.

It’s a bad idea to try to rely on blockers 100% for quiting. Blockers should help but not be the solution cause in the end, abstinence is not recovery.

Any blocker that blocks ■■■■ is enough for me. Whether you want it to be easily removable or not, it’s your choice.

If you’re curious, I use blocker hero on phone, and opendns on pc. Hope this helps.

I use the paid version because it’s on all my family devices. It provides me a central console to manage all sorts of blocking, malware, ads, etc. Manage custom rules and allow lists. Makes my life very easy I don’t need to physically check each device to update stuff.

that makes sense,

as @binocular said, abstinence only through ■■■■ blockers don’t feel like recovery but rather forced restriction..but just saying if it helps it doesn’t hurt

well your reasoning seems so valid, considering you don’t use it solely for ■■■■ restriction but mix of many other needs..
