Christian Repentance Challenge

Calling all Christians!

Every one of us has been called to turn our backs to sin, and to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. I want to make a league of Brothers that stand together to flee the desires of the flesh.

In this “Challenge,” the task is pretty simple - To flee lustful sin and replace it with something meaningful in life. I do not want this to be a competition between who has the highest streak. I want this to be a group of brothers that share

*Goals
*Experiences
*Spiritual motivation
*Prayers
*SETBACKS

Yes, setbacks included. It’s not something to be hidden, for many of us are aware that if we hide our weaknesses, they control us further. If you tell what went wrong, and others can learn from it or give guidance on how to avoid it better in the future

We all need and Ally, and I believe we can make a strong group that watches each other’s backs.

To join, simply introduce yourself however you’d like. Maybe state what you will put in your life to replace this sin with!

THERE IS ONE RULE
“Love one another as I have loved you.” John 13:34

I fully expect to have multiple denominations present, and I would love to see people express their practices, but I don’t want it to be divisive.

Scripture
1 John 2:16 - For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.

Galatians 5:16 - But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Colossians 3:5 - Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

2 Timothy 2:22 - So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

1 Corinthians 6:18 - Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

Proverbs 6:25 - Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelashes;

1 Peter 2:11 - Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

Hey guys, allow me to introduce myself.

I honestly installed this app yesterday, but I’ve used it years ago in a “League of Gentleman” group. Unfortunately, it fell apart, and I didn’t find another group to keep me on the app. I was doing well earlier this year, but I fell off bad this month due to some stress I’ve put on myself regarding life decisions and low self esteem. I decided to return and make a group myself.

I want to thank @Prayer_Warrior for instantly jumping on and helping me get this started, along with @debellator who is helping as well. I am very new to this, so I dont expect to have this made perfectly.

My primary goal is the Bible in a year plan that I have been completing with Fr. Mike Schmitz’s Podcast. Along with secondary goals of working out, learning music further, and spending time with my family. (my fitness routine is currently lower due to nursing a strain).

With that being said, I can’t wait to get this started! I will likely be on about 2 times a day as I am trying to keep a limited screen time.

Day 1 complete

I had a great day, got many goals done, and I devoted my commutes to learning or praying to God.

Psalms 103:8-9, 13-14 (KJV) The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

I’m in!

Goals:

(1) To be really engaged while spending time with God, rather than just “going through the motions” and/or checking off boxes.

Related short term goal: slow down, focus less on getting readings “done”, and more on spending time with God. Maybe cancel my home internet subscription.

(2) To become the outdoorsman and adventurer that I always wanted to be. I think PMO is tempting sometimes because it is a cheap thrill, and I crave adventure when not depressed. I need to man up and go for the more challenging things in life.

Related short term goal (next month): become SCUBA certified, and spend at least a week camping and gold prospecting in a relatively remote area.

Day 2 check in.

Gonna be honest. I came very close today. I saw someone on Instagram that triggered it, I started scrolling. I’m glad I was able to pull myself together, but I need to watch my back a little better. I also forgot to restart my blockers, so that’s fixed now.

Day 1 check in.

Busy day. No uncontrollable urges lately, but some feelings of temptation.

Daily Bible Reading

Being really engaged - unfortunately, I got distracted by other things and ended up doing my Bible reading later in the evening. I hope to spend some more time with the Lord before going to sleep, but I’m getting rather tired.

Moderately productive (applied to two jobs and did some work at the University)

Planned my camping/prospecting trip in more detail.

Tomorrow’s goal: make prayer/Bible study earlier in the day! Also, get back to exercising and cold showers.

Day 3 complete :white_check_mark:

I had a wonderful day today. It has been raining today and couldn’t do any productive work today.

:white_check_mark: Daily Bible Reading
:white_check_mark: Physical Exercise
:white_check_mark: Prayer meditation for 20 minutes

I have reflected on my past today. Looking back to myself and seeing that I am better off now than I was 10 years ago. If I met myself from 10 years ago I would have said to myself, “what are you doing, you are sinning against God”. This is the truth when we make ourselves stoop to that low of a degree. Thank you and God bless.

Matthew 4:3-4 (KJV) And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Day 3

I missed checking in yesterday. Bad night, to be honest. Things were going OK throughout the day - I spent more time with the Lord rather than just reading scripture to get it done, and I was somewhat productive. But later in the evening I had some urges and ended up edging until about 2:00 am or later. Ugh. :disappointed:

Today was a little better, I think.

Productivity is a given, since today is meant for rest. I accomplished that

Daily Bible reading

More planning and preparation for the trip. There is a lot I need to read up on for what I plan to do. And I plan to leave a week from tomorrow.

Not much exercise, but again, it’s the Sabbath so laying on the couch is appropriate.

[?] I’m not sure how to rate myself on being engaged, I guess. Not bad, overall, I think, but having stayed up so late last night I missed Sunday school this morning.

Tomorrow’s goal: family get together, so that will take most of the day. In the evening, work on job applications. Find a good map, plan hiking route for trip to Uwharrie National Forest.

I have sinned against God many times, learned to use my hands for inappropriate things, and watched things I shouldn’t whenever I got lonely. I was bullied way back in elementary school. I had been chasing shadows of my past and lost myself in the process. I wasn’t explicitly seeking inappropriate content when I was a kid, but when I reached puberty and experienced this feeling for the first time due to my friends’ bad influences, I learned this filthy thing. I realized that I have this issue inside me, but I wandered thoroughly and realized why I felt this shame. I wanted to change and turn back to God. (I might have to be more detailed in this when I Have time).

My goal especially for 2025 is Bible Fitness and Productivity .
