"Check-in" Daily - diary challenge

Checking in - Sunday 20th October. All good, thank GOD.

@BruceLee Massive congratulations to you brother! :smiley: :partying_face::star2::comet::fire::trophy::1st_place_medal:

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”
Robert Louis Stevenson

The days in your streak are not as important as what you did in order to obtain them. It’s very easy to lose track of that and end up viewing success only as the number of days since we last watched pornography or masturbated.

If we have fallen from a 30 day streak, but on day 5;

  • we have developed a solid plan on what we will do every time we have urges;
  • we’ve identified the main triggers which led us to relapse and planned activities in advance to help us when facing them again,
  • we have a bunch of positive habits to uplift our mood when experiencing negative emotions,
  • a strong list of reasons why we want to continue this journey,
  • an accountability partner we can reach out to for help, guidance and support,

We will find that we’re far more successful on day 6 than we were on day 29 of our previous streak.

Someone running a marathon can make it to the 10th mile, but if they haven’t practiced their technique, nourished and hydrated their body, purchased the proper shoes and so on, they’re unlikely to complete the race.

Checking in for day 7. Woke up for the first time in years not exhausted whatever is happening seems to be working can’t believe I’ve made it a week already. Having looked into it more can see I’ve probalt been in some kind of flatline for a while. Been kinda numb to stuff for quite a while and feel some of the initial benefits I experienced may have just been me being excitted to start.
Keep going everybody

Week 12 - Oct 20, Sun - Streak: 56 days

Busy day, with homework. Late night.

Had some urges but blocked them good.

Sleeping at friends house to get homework done cause someone crashed into our powerlines :roll_eyes: again (this is a recurring issue for some reason).

Hope you guys are holding out!

This is my streak, I am going to make it.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Check-in Saturday, Sunday & Monday :+1::+1::+1:

All good! Lots to talk, but I’m holding myself back.
Currently I’m not in the mental-condition to be spending time writing down my thoughts. Generally, it takes me more than an hour to write here.
& I’m already getting carried away to write more.:joy:
But I’m reading every post regularly.
Keep writing everyone!
Keep rising! :fire:

If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.
Henry Ford

So many of the limitations we have are self-imposed. We tend to write the future in our heads based on our failures in the past. But no amount of past failures means that future success is impossible. This year alone, I had more than 100 relapses on 46 different days. It would have been simple to say that I just couldn’t break free, or say what I told myself: I can’t break free just yet.

But the moment I switched my mindset to the idea that I could do it, and that I could do it this time; that I would do it this time, it became that much easier to accomplish.

Week 13 - Oct 21, Mon - Streak: 57 days

@Uroldor Thanks man! But actually I haven’t made it to 12 weeks, just been doing this challenge for 12 weeks. My current Streak is 56 days which I am still happy with tho!

Keep going strong yourself, 8 days is awesome, getting past that first week is sometimes the hardest part!

@Positivebloke Saaame dude. I have been feeling that some of these past nights. Takes me about an hour to journal here, an important task, but precious time nonetheless. I’ll be rooting for you man! Stay strong during these busy times :muscle:

As for me,

Felt kind of lonely today. First time in awhile I really wish I could find a girl that I click with. Haven’t thought about that as much since I was down in the dirt. And even now it’s not a horrible loneliness like when I was relapsing. It’s bearable. I just wish I was back in my home state, in my home city. Saw a post from one of my cousins down there and it just looks so nice. And I know I will find more people like me there, specifically girls. Again, I explained this awhile ago, but really there is surprisingly a huge culture difference in the state I live in now. It’s not as noticeable or significant until you start thinking about dating. People are just different here. They think different, they talk different, and they’re into different things.

It will probably be a couple more years here though so I can’t get too worked up about it. Got to finish school. On the plus side, that kind of forces me to be on a higher streak before I date. So that will be good.

Decided to actually start getting ready for bed like 3 hours early. So I actually got to do all the things that have been bothering me for a long time but that I have been too busy to fix. Did my pull-up sets. Changed my sheets and made my bed. Put all of my clean clothes away. Took a shower on time. So I feel good now.

And I’m getting sleep! Amazing.

Keep at it guys, we got this :muscle:

Needed this quote tonight. From a great book by the way. Totally recommend it.

The test is not a complex one: when the alarm goes off, do you get up out of bed, or do you lie there in comfort and fall back to sleep? If you have the discipline to get out of bed, you win—you pass the test. If you are mentally weak for that moment and you let that weakness keep you in bed, you fail. Though it seems small, that weakness translates to more significant decisions. But if you exercise discipline, that too translates to more substantial elements of your life.

@Special_Bird That quote spoke to my soul - especially given the struggles I’ve had getting out of bed these days. Book’s definitely going on the to-read list. I’d recommend High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard - he released the full audiobook for free on Stitcher. Powerful habits that I want to implement from this week onwards on becoming more effective versions of ourselves. For one thing, he speaks about the importance of good sleep habits and how inefficient it is to reduce sleep in order to advance in our careers or studies; we burn out in the long run and actually produce less results than we would have with the proper nutrition, exercise and energy.

“I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” – Jimmy Dean

Life won’t always go to plan.

It’s much easier to have a clean and free day when we have no urges, life is going well, we have no stress, anxiety or discomfort to worry about.

But that period doesn’t last. Strong urges return with a vengeance. We have stressful deadlines at work or school. Something happens to a loved one. We have a major falling out with someone. And that feeling to return to PMO rears its ugly head again.

We have to have the mindset that no matter what happens. PMO is no longer an option. We have to seek out something else to help improve our mood. The incredible thing is that, the new positive habits and activities we engage in to achieve this work 100x better than PMO ever did, and we gain the strength to face our problems and improve our situations.
