Any way to avoid chatting sites and social media?

Oh, I am curious as to what happened between your batch and the batch just previous to you.

Ya man, but I am neither in an IIT nor an NIT. So it’s kind of waste of a year as in nothing productive came out of it.

I dont remember exactly. Before our batch , the seniors were under state govt educational policies. After that , there were lot of holidays given to us because our college has to deal with some formal policies and procedures associated with making the college to an autonomous one.

Hence there was a lag happened with me and the seniors batch.

Hi if you are serious for Gate dont focus too much on placements , because gate preparation with job is difficult i took that decision but got so busy in job that in mutiple attempts not able to crack gate , just my point of view choose one and dedicate time for it

  1. Take a diary and everytime u feel like sharing just right in it everything

  2. U can share with me in personal chat or write stuffs in ur diary

  3. Try being social through other means
Like play videos games which require u to communicate with ur teammates
Not that effective but using video games
    There are 2 benefits

  4. Satisfying ur dopamine craving

  5. Meeting new people
Here everyday u will meet new people
So u wont have to put any efforts in keeping the friendship but at the same time there will be human interaction
But be careful dont get addicted to video games

  6. Take the help of other things like shows or video games or search for a badminton court take a month membership and pull some 1 with u to play everyday 1 hour - fitness + u can talk ur heart out
That other person need not necesarily be a friend
Do u have siblings or cousins near ur place take them
If not is there any guy of ur age as neighbour just go and suggest the same to him
    Dont be shy
Its okay to feel awkward take a step
    U wont regret it

I can relate a bit now. University started today and schedule looks jam packed except for weekends.

My university is giving some opportunities to explore and placement looks kind of guaranteed but I know getting into PSUs is something else. (If I am able to get that high score).

But the thing is I got to make one a better priority since gate can be given after completion of b tech too, while doing jobs too it can be given.

It’s been 27 days since the last reply here and I am proud that I didn’t used social media, nor any chatting sites .

It’s good I have got a little busy in life now.

And reading the book can’t hurt me by david goggins gave me lot of courage.

Hey bro, since I am also a student who is studying animation, lemme tell my schedule and how I deal.

In class, I get free time. At that time I play genshin impact and scroll insta.
After coming home, I eat food and go to gym.
After coming home, I open RC forum about updates from forum buddies.
Use insta for like 15 mins. Now today I deactivated insta from gym. I do get that app scrolling addiction but not giving up.
Finish work, etc and maybe join discord if friends are there.

Mostly I play only genshin so no time for social media

It’s a simple routine. Also if you ever get time, use it to do what you like but don’t use insta.

Curent update: You get so much time that you can swim in time.
PS: I was also a person who deleted all social media accounts [Except what’s app and you-ube] and didn’t use social media and believe me. Time flies like never before.

Hello Prince , How is your GATE going. The exam is almost near. We havent executed any of the things we planned after this :slightly_smiling_face: .

I do have exams these days till 30 January. If you are ok with it , then we can go for a serious prepration after that.

Or if you studying it these days , I will join you from 30 Jan.

My momentum got lost after my university started. Before that I was atleast studying 4-5 hrs by myself as you might have saw in @Imaginator’s study challenge. I accumulated 130 hrs till 15 Jan.

Now I barely do self study on week days. And on weekends, little bit of college assignments.

I don’t think in 8-10 days we can study a lot. But we can plan our revision if you want.

Idk about EE but for ECE as per previous qn papers about 20 percent is direct formula based. I do believe we can get some marks through Aptitude too.

For a General Catergory marks between 20 - 30 is considered as cutoff. Tho it would not lead us to IITs or NITs , I do believe we can apply for public sector jobs ig

I doubt if I can score this much. I know it’s less but still. I just want to attempt and score in double digits :skull_and_crossbones:

By just the cutoff, we ain’t getting shit. Max is we can get internships, or some private job through campus placement if we have cleared the cutoff.

I am a first year student of Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering of Jadavpur University, Kolkata. I plan on preparing for GATE for EC paper and Giving IN as the 2nd paper. As seniors , what do you suggest me to do from the 1st year itself?
Coz I feel early starting is necessary for me, I suffered greatly for not taking JEE prep in class 11 and 12 , and had to complete the entire syllabus in the drop year. So this time I decided to start early?

Genuinely speaking from whatever I have seen. If you are in first year, just knowing what are your technical strengths and weaknesses are enough.

1st year is almost common for every branch so can’t prepare seriously for gate. You can prepare for aptitude tho, which carries 15 marks in gate and also aptitude is taken in almost every placement company which will come in last year in your college.

Build your skills, and approach the opposite sex. Because trust me, from second year onwards, you need to spend more time on yourself to build your skills.

Most important thing: take time to know your friend circle and pick the best you can, which is serious in career+enjoys life too. My worst mistake was not picking good friend circle till second year, it’s costing me dearly now, I have to extract every career related information by myself.

Also, if you can’t find a gf in first year, don’t even think of women from second year.

And beware of girls, these creatures will sweet talk you to exploit you if you give them an opportunity.

Thank you so much.
I tend to avoid the opposite sex altogether(did that in school too, never had a gf, neither planning on having one). But I guess staying focussed throughout is the goal.

If you don’t mind, can I ask why?

The right mindset. But review your progress on regular basis to know where you stand. It will help in self improvement.

Had a massive crush on a girl from my school(rather fixated) for 4 years. Confessed a few days back, got rejected and decided that Love(so called, though it is nothing but a series of chemical reactions in the brain), is overrrated , a distraction and a time waste.
And as I said, I was fixated on her, so in school never spoke to the other girls in the class, other than for official or formal reasons. Amusing , as I look back, i now realize maybe my total speaking time to girls(other than the one I had crush on) in the last few years spent in school would maybe amount to a miniscule amount of few hours

I am in college and in these 6 semesters, even my engagement is also less than few hrs.

Bhai ka kata hei :skull:(just kidding).
I see bro, I also got rejected in second semester, because I wasn’t dominant enough, it was indirect rejection because she didn’t told me directly but one can say by her body language. I bought her gifts and shit.

And recently my LDR got broken, it was 5 months of talking and shit. She was a diamond tho, but because of her family, she blocked me.

Anyways, I realised if you yourself are not independent, no girl will find you attractive or will stay for long. Other thing they need is confidence and sense of humour. Well, I would rather build myself than doing these shitty things.
I am in 6th semester now.
