About Cheers Calculation

I’m curious to know how cheers are getting calculated on this app. The thing that got my curiosity is there are some guys. They joined later on this app unlike me who has joined earlier.

Some guys like @textmr03 I don’t think he has posted something like that in few days or months. He has more cheers than me. Also @Peter_Parker1 joined later has more cheers than me around with some more active guys across this forum.

I just wanted to know about the exact calculation of cheers. If not , proceed ahead. @Peter_Parker1 joined in December 4 ig has around 15.1k cheers if I’m not wrong. That’s surprising to see.

I wanted to tag some fellow active members and moderators for the answer @Taher @debellator @Prayer_Warrior @The_integrous_one @nofapstar123.

Cheers are calculated from two aspects: first, the number of likes you give to others’ posts, and second, the number of likes your posts receive

For instance, if you gave 8 likes to others posts and your posts received 5 likes, then the total cheers count would be 13. At least, that’s how I think it works
@Covertxomic1

And someone like @textmr03 hasn’t posted much, yet their post reading time is 10 days. This likely means theyve given most of their cheers by engaging with and liking others’ posts.

And as you can see here, the sum of my given likes and taken likes doesn’t match my overall cheers. So, it’s possible that the number of posts you’ve visited or created also contributes to the cheers count.

I’ve always been a reader here and never posted anything yeah. For security reasons.
Though I met a companion in dms. Yes it’s textmr.
We talk a lot and help each other a lot too.

From what I read, I think it’s because we post too much in dms that we got big cheers. Sorry if I caused you guys confusion

Thanx for confirmation dude. It helps

That’s the exact reason of sudden increase in your cheers, even the person at the no 1 position on cheer board @The_integrous_one used to talk alot in Dms atleast that’s what someone told me when I asked about how to get more cheers!.

I don’t have much idea about that, @debellator will be able to answer better I believe.

Oh that might be the case, not sure though, I used to be a lot active everywhere in this forum, reading liking replying on various topics and diaries and postong daily in my diaries as well and I heard about your mom, it must be tough man, my condolences, take care :people_hugging:

LOL I just noticed this feature after reading this thread, wasn’t even aware of it now. Going by any of those logics then, I should have had much higher count than I do right now :joy:, so I definitely don’t understand the methodology. But why does it matter man? Do you get cash prizes for that, or do you become instantly more attractive or suddenly your addiction is cured? Its all very childish. I believe Taher added this feature for fun, not for people to get butthurt over such irrelevant stuffs. The motto, aim and objective of this site and our target should stay focussed towards eradication of PMO, not earning more cheers via one or other means.

Well this forum is based and made on discourse’s api. This feature have been included by them so this forum got it as well also cheers are for encouraging people’s moral to actively engage in community and the reason why you don’t have much then I think it’s because you don’t post alot.

I had this doubt , but reading topics and posts give you cheers . And staying online might also give you cheers but dms doesn’t affect it , maybe they read a lot here .
