The problem with “trying” to quit masturbation or going on a “streak” is, that it implies that you are giving something up while youre on the streak. Realizing that that is not true and that you are giving nothing up by not masturbating is the key to breaking free from this spell.
Think of it this way: if someone told you “hey man, Im on day 5 of not drinking bleach”, youd think “huh?”. “Why would you keep a streak of that?”
Keeping a streak of not masturbating implies that there is something positive you are missing out on while you are on the streak. Lets be clear: there is nothing you are missing.
Thoughts on this very much welcome, this is why I stopped using RewireCompanion
I mostly agree with you. Why I still lurk here due to the companions. I mean I feel good sometimes in talking. But maintaining streaks and going for 90 days is the will power methods which goes against easy peasy. The aim always should be never.
Yup, I also thought many times that there’s no point in staying here if we are free. But this forum does have a positive vibe, everyone is on self improvement journey and that keeps us motivated to improve ourselves. Streak counting shouldn’t be the purpose of the forum (at least for easy peasy followers)
Hey guys
Streak counting is not to be considered a goal
Giving up ,yes we’re giving up bad habits here, and we’re gaining alot cause of that.
Streak count is not meant to replace out goal. The goal is not to each 30, 90, 979 days. Streak count is just a tool to keep tracking your journey.
The hardest thing in every journey is starting, when I see that I already started, I’ve been trying, I reach X days, gives you something you don’t want to give it up. Again the steak is not the purpose, it’s just a tool.
Yes but streak counting does create irrational fear. Like from day 3 to 15 is most difficult for me. If i count days i see day 14 my mind start to think i have to be careful. I am getting closer to the high streak. I am thinking to keep resetting the streak every day now. Or won’t use the app at all.
We have to be extremely careful of the brainwashing. Although for some counting streak doesn’t affect like @Forerunner .
I do exactly that, I use the forum on browser.
The app seems like a constant reminder and seeing others’ streaks puts unnecessary pressure. Just aim for making each day count without counting the days.
Between any one want to read more books I have found two new books using easy peasy discord server.
One is
It’s based on the same principle as easy peasy. But bit shorter. 52 pages. Other is easy peasy rewrite for MO which is helpful for guys like me because I don’t watch porn.
My advice is that if the day counter/streak affects you negatively, abandon it. No one needs to count days that they’ve been free, it’s entirely unnecessary. You may want to save the start date somewhere just so you know your anniversary, but that’s completely your choice.
Otherwise, it can be a useful tool for confidence that you’ve made real progress and an indication of the changes you’re making in your life. You can still follow the method while counting days, it’s up to you.
I only count days now as a demonstration of my commitment to permanent abstinence and a milestone I can share with my brothers and sisters which lets them know that I’ve figured out a thing or two about how to do this.
Instead of looking forward to any particular date or milestone, I feel that joy every day and give thanks to GOD that I’m freed from slavery to PMO.
And as @anon65589122 pointed out, I tend not to be affected by negative thoughts regarding the streak or whichever day I’m on, or comparing myself to others. It’s not a race or competition. Someone who’s 1000 days ahead of me doesn’t take a thing away from how beautiful it will be when I reach that day. Besides, it truly isn’t about some round milestone number like 100 or 500 or 1000, it’s about being free for good. That’s the true joy, and I experience that everyday.
I still use the forum in order to help and guide others, and to advocate for the Easypeasymethod. It is not necessary for my recovery or self-improvement journey. I believe that as a leader, it is my pleasure and responsibility to aid others to achieve success too. I’ve been helped by many people on this journey, it’s only fair that I stick around and do the same for others if I can.
