It all starts by a titillating image on a website, newspaper etc. This triggers you to watch porn (I dont watch porn , I read erotic stories ) , your conscience tries coming in the way to avoid you from doing it, but you dont care , instead you indulge in porn , watch 2 or 3 or 5 videos(depending on how much you are addicted ). Then the comes the climax!!! you masturbate and a minute later, you regret it, you feel like shit , you feel trapped, you feel there is no way out , you feel this is how your life will continue and sadly your life will continue in this way if you don’t take a strong stand now. I started watching porn when I was in 10th, now I’m in my 3rd year engineering and I haven’t watched porn for 9 months now, but now i read erotic stories and masturbate. Many times I masturbate by imagining scenarios or by using my memories of old porn videos. All of this sucks. Whether you watch porn or not , don’t masturbate because what happens is that you get a instant hit of dopamine when you masturbate, but 5 mins after that prolactin kicks in which causes you to feel regretful. It makes you depressed over a period of time.
Many psychiatrist might tell you to not feel guilty, but I feel it’s necessary when you are starting out to change your habits. Feel guilty at first and take a strong stand on ending this habit. It might not be easy at first, you’ll relapse, be perseverent. Follow the badges on this app and until you reach a streak of 20 days , feel regretful each time you relapse. After that don’t feel guilty each time you relapse. This will create a system which works in your favour because you dont have to worry about the goals to set, you only need to follow it.
