Brothels always existed. Even thousand years back. The need for sexual pleasure is one part of our nature. If there was a time when an animal didn’t have this need for sexual pleasure it would have died out. Why should it reproduce?
With that in mind, I think it is highly unlikely that there was a time where men didn’t fap. Maybe after a certain age they got married and from then on just took their wife when ever they wanted. I don’t think that it was always that romantical back than (at least in European countries).
Another thing is that sometimes, babies rub their part against the ground which seems to be a first experience of the sexual pleasure.

I would like to correct you on one thing, only humans and one or two other species of animals are known to ‘enjoy’ sex. Rest just do it to reproduce.
But yes, and society has been patriarchal most of the time. And all ancient tales talk of multiple partners of the wealthy claas. So maybe sex was much more frequent and hence no need to rub it off.

People back then were more open about sex and killing. Barbaric era. That is why kings used to have 15-20 kids. I don’t think they used to fap as sex was easily available. Fuck used to mean Fornication Under Consideration of King

Doing sex in that era gave men confidence and will power and made them more wild which helped them to fight battles. Nowadays due to fapping, people are loosing confidence, energy and instead of being a lion, most of the men are scared little cats.
