50 Reasons for Quiting โ โ โ โ
Here is a quick list of 50 reasons to quit using pornography.
-
Increase your self confidence.
-
More time and energy to put into developing friendships and interpersonal relationships of all types.
-
More time and energy to devote to being a family member. Many parents who reboot report that they feel that they feel like better parents and better spouses. Many younger rebooters report feeling more at ease at family events and have more positive feelings regarding family.
-
Improve your social confidence. 57% of our surveyed members reported an increase in โsocial skillsโ while rebooting/retaining.
-
For singles, improve your ability to find a romantic partner. 66% feel that theyโre more willing to talk to people that theyโre attracted to.
-
Increase attraction towards people, instead of just pixels on a screen. Avoiding PMO will naturally incentivize you to focus on cultivating a relationship.
-
Reduce or reverse sexual dysfunctions such as anorgasmia (inability to orgasm during sex) and PIED (โ โ โ โ -induced erectile dysfunction).
8)Reduce the โdeath gripโ in order to have greater pleasure during real s**.
-
Improve s**ual satisfaction.
-
39% of surveyed users report an increase in emotional connection with their partner.
-
38% report feeling more creative during a reboot.
-
48% report feeling โtranquilityโ or โdeep-seated happinessโ during a reboot.
-
Improve romantic relationships, as problems in the bedroom often trickle their way into every area of a relationship.
-
47% of surveyed members report feeling a greater respect towards women & potential partners.
-
It isnโt only just about respect towards potential partners. 28% of surveyed rebooters on our forum reported a greater respect towards peers.
-
Improves dating life.
-
No more staying up until 4 am, clicking from video to video, waking up the next day exhausted.
-
No more fear in letting other people borrow your phone or computer, scared that theyโll stumble across โ โ โ โ , your internet history, or an embarrassing auto-complete.
-
Know yourself better. 65% of surveyed members reported a greater awareness of their own strengths and limitations.
-
No more weird computer viruses from all of those pop-up ads and accidental clicks.
-
More free time to pursue whatever you want to pursue in life.
-
55% report that they simply โfeelโ more physically attractive / have a better self image and better facial and body confidence after going through a period of rebooting/retention.
-
Increase available computer/phone hard drive space to store photographs of memories that youโre making with all of your newfound free time.
-
Feel authentic, like you have nothing to hide, and the liberating feeling that results from living life authentically.
-
Know what your โorganic sexualityโ looks like. You might discover new things about yourself. NoFap doesnโt usually say that โthis kink is good, this kink is badโ but that people should focus on discovering what theyโre naturally attracted to, rather than letting the โ โ โ โ producers choose for them.
-
Reverse โ โ โ โ -created fetishes that might be at-odds with your natural preferences or even your morals. Sometimes these can escalate to rather shocking categories.
-
Increase your ability to delay rewards.
-
Increase your ability to participate in altruistic punishment.
-
Increase your ability to take risks.
-
If you are married, reduce the chance of getting a divorce (studies that analyze divorce data are showing this) and increase marriage satisfaction.
-
Enjoy a greater sense of self-control and โself-mastery.โ
-
Learn how to appreciate peopleโs personalities, characters, and other aspects of being a human being rather than just caring about their bodies. No more gawking at people on the street or other behavior that was reinforced through heavy โ โ โ โ use.
-
Increase self-discipline and be transfer it into other areas of life. Maybe itโs time to start learning a new skill or pursuing a goal.
-
No more being a creep. Many of the heaviest โ โ โ โ users might escalate into creepy or even illegal behavior, such as watching shocking โ โ โ โ genres, PMOing compulsively in places/at times that they shouldnโt, or visiting risky prostitution services.
-
Save money by no longer purchasing it or things associated with it. Maybe you can pursue another hobby such as paragliding with the savings. Some people spend 1000s and 1000s on camming, toys, site subscriptions, or higher-quality niche content.
-
You donโt know what youโre watching. You could be supporting human trafficking or other awful things. Even not buying โ โ โ โ results in demand through ad revenue and web traffic. If you disagree with the industryโs practices, you can vote with your โwalletโ and choose to not support it by not using it.
-
People who are religious (remember, NoFap is a secular brand) report having more โreligious satisfactionโ (20% from last survey).
-
Understand the concept of abundance, which can be translated to awareness of other things that are no-longer-scarce that our bodies still consider beneficial to binge on. For example, food โ we have an obesity epidemic right now and many rebooters report pursuing new dietary habits shortly after quitting PMO.
-
Hypofrontality, a tangible brain change, has been linked to compulsive pornography consumption, which may reduce an individualโs ability to think critically. People who quit sometimes report feeling more โclear-headedโ compared to when they were deep into their PMO habits.
-
Habitual excessive pornography use has been linked to heightened levels of stress. Some people who leave PMO behind report having more โbalancedโ stress/anxiety levels.
-
Stop normalizing pornography consumption to others, especially to young people who are often being indoctrinated to accept that internet โ โ โ โ consumption is the new normal, is healthy, and ideal. โThe more the better!โ is often touted although it isnโt scientifically supported. (remember, thereโs a difference between masturbation, a partnered orgasm, and masturbating to internet โ โ โ โ , which the โ โ โ โ -pushers too often ignore)
-
Get more stuff done: 50% of our users have reported increased productivity from a period of not PMOing.
-
32% users reported being more emotionally sensitize / attuned to emotions.
-
Many rebooters go through some challenges during the process. Overcoming these challenges will help you gain skills to overcome future challenges in life.
-
Perform better at work or school due to the positive effects of rebooting/retention.
-
โฆ โsuperpowers.โ These arenโt referring to super-human abilities. This is our word for natural abilities and the natural self in the absence of endlessly-available, super-stimulating pornography which often has detrimental effects on peopleโs lives. People report that theyโre getting all sorts of unexpected effects that are changing their lives. Sometimes, the changes are so drastic, this return to natural/normal is described as โsuperpowersโ by some enthusiastic rebooters.
-
Experience the effects of what these changes can have in your life. It could be a compounding investment thatโs hard to predict the outcome of. And one of the best investments that you can make is in yourself.
-
68% members reported feeling a sense of satisfaction from completing a major life challenge, undergoing a period of rebooting/retention.
-
Many rebooters often report that they are now focused on building other beneficial habits, such as eating well or exercising. If you arenโt already doing so, give it a shot, since rebooting is a great time to start picking up things that are actually good for you.
-
Just to see what happens. Youโll never know until you try. Many people report completely unexpected, highly personal benefits from eliminating (and for some people, even just reducing) their PMO habits.

Like This
โHappiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actionsโ.
โmost things in my life are good after NoFap, so why am I not happy?โ
Iโve had several โlightbulbโ moments over the past couple of days. One came this morning in the oddest place and time (I wonโt go into thatโฆ) but I stood there and just thought. โIโm happyโ.
The knot in my stomach is virtually gone, my IBS isnโt bothering me at the moment, and although I still have a lingering bug that wonโt shift (!) I feel GOOD.
I then thoughtโฆwhat is different? A couple of days back I was nearing a lapse into those dark thoughts and not feeling great about things, yet now I feel good.
When I thought about what was different I realised it was my actions.
I have been smiling more, I have been disciplined, I have made changes, I have started to meditate to bring down my stress levels, Iโve been aware of myself and my feelings and Iโve been in control of them, Iโve been kind to people, Iโve been calm and attentive (and much more).
Donโt get me wrong โ this week has had the potential to bring me right downโฆbut Iโve not allowed external influences to cause me stress, upset or hurt. What is the point?! I believe we have one life on this earth and we often choose to let others dictate how you feel? How stupid is that?
This week Iโve learned to mutually respect and understand those who I would previously not had the time of day for. Why should I allow historic preconceptions or what other people say decide how I should treat people? Iโm my own person and can make those decisions for myself.
I found myself talking to one such person and over the course of 1 week Iโve done a complete U-turn in my understanding of who they are, what makes them tick etc. Sometimes I asked questions I wouldnโt normally, pushing boundaries and confidence barriers further than previously. It empowered me. Made me think about my actions in the past towards this person. Anyway, I digressโฆ.
What Iโm getting at is this. You are in control. You make the decisions thousands of times a day that dictate how you feel, how you allow others to make you feel and how others feel about you. Think about your actions, your approach, your emotions and control them to make you happy. Deep down youโre probably not a bad person but if you allow stress and outside influences change you it can be difficult to turn around in the future.
Generally if youโre happy, other people will react differently to you and itโs a good catch 22 situation. What goes around comes around.
Make that change right now if the above applies to you. Time is short. Smile.
this is wrongโฆ
Do you think it should be higher or lower?
I think It should be Higher,
Indiaโs ranking should come around 100.
Well Finland got the best education system in the world , maybe thatโs why everyone is happy there.Lol
