Reduce the screen time and increase the productivity challenge [Entries open]

So let me start sharing my issues
I was addicted to games(mobile games), youtube, series binge watching, anime binge watching, manga reading mindlessly watching TV
I finally overcame my gaming addiction
but i didnt become productive
instead i replaced the gaming hours with other addiction
i finally stopped binge watching series
but again i wasnt productive and so i came up with this challenge
To increase productivity while reducing the screen time

As per the first video that i shared
I analysed my vulnerable times

  1. As soon as i wake up till 12 in the afternoon
  2. 2pm to 4pm
  3. 7pm to 10pm
    If i start using screen during these period
    i almost am attached to screen the rest of the time
    I know this time period almost covers the entire day when im awake
    but this is just how vulnerable im towards the screen and the dopamine that i get when i m on the screen.

On youtube i have nothing to watch but i just mindlessly search roast or gaming videos and stay hooked
Anime there isnt anything particular but i just keep watching that too without any sound
i mean im not at all interested in any of these activities but still i cant stop myself
and the same condition is with manga and manhwa.

i stopped enjoying all of these for a long time but i still cant stop using all these

so my goal is not to use phone during those vulnerable times
so as to reduce the screen time and hopefully in future my unproductive screen time becomes zero wherin i dont need all these to relax or o entertain myself

the blockers dont work for me as they make me more anxious
but i will not give up

You know, I think this might not be the challenge for me. I don’t play mobile ganes, YouTube is blocked on all my devices, I don’t like/watch anime, and I don’t watch Television.

Oh well, on the other hand, I could always go for less screen time. I mostly use the internet for research purposes. For instance, I’m looking for ways to alleviate my knee pain.

My only problem is that yt shorts as my insta is disabled for a long time now and I don’t play any game , yt take most of the time

After so many failures my parents asked me to give my phone to them until my next exam
And today is the last day when I can use phone or anything related internet
So I m sorry
I wont be able to hold this challenge

I’m not quitting. In fact, since it’s Friday, I’m going to show my stats now.

So according to Digital Wellbeing, I used my phone for 1 hour, 37 minutes today, which was 3 hours less than yesterday.

  • Most of that was spent on the app Brave (my default browser), at 56 minutes.
  • Second place was the sms messaging (texting), at 18 minutes
  • Last was my email at 8 minutes

Meanwhile, I received 4384 notifications today, which was 4004 less than yesterday.

Fir the entire week, yesterday (Thursday) was my mosf excessive phone use time. Ironically, I unlocked my phone more times today than yesterday or all week (29 times).

Tuesday and Thursday are my busiest days in terms of phone use, and my busiest app is my VPN, which is always running when there is WiFi available.

So, in conclusion, most of my phone use is checking notifications, so it stands to reason that if I turn off or heavily reduce notifications, I’ll be less likely to check my phone. Most of those alerts come from Nofap, Rewire Companion (by way of my email alerts), Kickstarter notifications, and reminders to exercise.

By the way, I only used my tablet once this week for about ten minutes. Otherwise, it goes untouched.

My final results for Device Care are in for last week:

2 hours and 5 minutes of screen time for the week, with most of that was using Brave. It may be due to the fact that I’ve been shopping around for a gym to attend, and activities to do in the city.
