Michael's Prison Break [24 M]

Maybe combine it with picking up a new habit? This sometimes helps me to get new motivation, although I agree that once relapse has taken place it can be a real drag.

Started growing a pepper plant, that counts as a new hobbyā€¦ I think. Been really busy with my studies as well. Hoping that helps.

Hey everybody, just wanted to update. Honestly been to ashamed to really post anything. Been a terrible week, around 3 relapses in the one week. I donā€™t really know what else to say, but yeah. I feel like a huge failure and doing my best to not let it get to me.

Good news, it looks like Iā€™m back on track. Bad news, pretty sure most of the forum is mad at me over a misunderstanding. Granted I can unintentionally come off as a jerlā€¦most of the time. So I donā€™t blame them. I wouldnā€™t talk to me either. Worse news, pretty sure Iā€™m sick and I know Iā€™m just discouraged overall right now. Probably a byproduct of being sick, always makes my brain screwy.

If there is anybody who reads this that also reads the Bible, reply with one of your favorite verses. And if you have any Bible questions or things you want to talk about, Iā€™d love it if you brought it up so we could discuss it.

Starting a new month today, I want to keep that calender free of red dots

Havenā€™t posted in a while, but this month is going well so far. I ended up disabling Chrome, Google, and Youtube. I also set up parental controls on Play Store, that way I cannot download any thing rated M, NC-17, or sexually explicit. The only downside is when people send me links I have to tell them that I canā€™t open them, which usually leads to a perplexed face on their end. However, most anything you can find on the internet has an app now. Dictionary app for when I need definitions, Gamestop app for that stuff, Dominos app for when Iā€™m hungry, etc. Just need to find an app where I can get random information. Like when honey is ripe, whether or not honey is smoother than oil, when King Josiah reigned, where I can find Steadtler pens, etc.
But 6 days without porn is worth whatever it may cost.

@Wise_Guy_97 Not sure if I understand the question. Are you wanting details on how a guy could get into this stuff so young?

No never mind. I have been trapped myself so there is no need to give me details. All i am trying to do is evade porn and masturbate at naked pictures and videos for now. There is no need to explain because we all have been exposed to porn at an early age. We all have seen naked women and were fascinated by their bodies and looks, and the rest that should be covered most of the time. So why seek pleasure to look at pictures, but not from a womans touch. That is one of the questions i ask myself before i commit mistakes from relapses.

Hi. I know weā€™ve had difficulty in communicating in a previous thread, but I just wanted to say I appreciate you sharing your story here.

Yesterday, a customer where I work quoted from Matthew in the Bible to me. I have a Bible at home and looked up the quote so I could share it. It is Matthew 7:3-4. ā€œWhy do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brotherā€™s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ā€˜Let me take the speck out of your eye,ā€™ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?ā€

My thought on this is that it means something like ā€œLet he who is blameless cast the first stone,ā€ or ā€œJudge not lest ye be judge.ā€ Like, before you start criticizing another person, check yourself and find your own faults and work with them. This is just my interpretation. What do you think it means?

And so, taking this advice, I must apologize to you for my part in our previous argument. I am sorry. I wish you well on your nofap journey and I support you.

@MJ2019 The context of that verse is The Sermon on the Mount. Jesus is on a mountain side teaching His disciples how they should live and behave. The people of the day had been taught by the Pharisees (very hypocritical religious leaders) and they would pray loudly and in public to get peopleā€™s attention and make themselves look good, they would also teach that people are to follow the religious law, but would not follow it themselves. These leaders were quick to condemn and cast judgement on their followers for mistakes, but they would cover up their own, or try to justify them.

Basically, Jesus is saying ā€œDonā€™t be a hypocrite!
Donā€™t tell people one thing and do another. Donā€™t require people live one way when you donā€™t even live up to it.ā€ That is what He was saying. He is not so much saying ā€œDonā€™t judge othersā€ but ā€œWhen you judge others, they will judge you right back, so you had better judge yourself first.ā€

In summary, it would be hypocritical for me to look down on anybody here for having a porn addiction, when I myself have only been 6 days without porn. If you read farther you also find that He says we are to help people out of mistakes and addictions by showing them the way, not crush them under our boots.

Not sure if that answered your question, if not, let me know and Iā€™ll try again.

@MJ2019 Also, about the previous disagreement, donā€™t worry about it. I appreciate the apology. But Iā€™m not holding anything against you, and I hope you arenā€™t holding anything against me either. I believe people should be allowed to discuss what they believe and their opinions without getting mad or causing a huge issue about it. So no hard feelings at all on this end. The way I see it, you stated your opinion, I stated mine. Now that we know where we stand, might as well be friends.
Out of respect, what should I refer to you as? He or She?

@Wise_Guy_97 Long story short, I had older friends, mainly of the opposite gender who were curious about stuff. And it did not start with porn, that addiction did not start until 3-4 years later, after my friends either moved away or got bored. However, I understand your confusion.

Thanks, @MB16! I am pretty new to the Bible. The context you gave is helpful.

I am a Buddhist and have been practicing for 6 years. I am also interested in Interfaith work and keep seeing similar messages between Buddhism and Christianity. For instance, when I was reading Matthew 6:16, ā€œWhen you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fastingā€¦ā€ it reminds me of one of what are called the Lojong slogans in my practice, which is ā€œDo not expect applause.ā€ Itā€™s a little different I think as it seems like the Bible verse refers to people who seem to be intentionally trying to get positive attention by their deed just for their own gain, whereas the Lojong slogan is just a general piece of advice. Like no matter what you are doing, donā€™t expect people to give you praise because, well, they might not! If you expect them to and they donā€™t, you will suffer. So just do stuff because you want to or think it is right without expectations.

No hard feelings here, and thank you for asking me about my pronouns! I go by ā€œthey,ā€ a gender neutral pronoun

@MJ2019 Yeah, both phrases have similairities. I think the main difference is the focus and who is to blame ultimately.

Excited about church this morning, at this point I want to feel like it would be impossible for me to relapse again, but I refuse to be that foolish. I have plans this afternoon between services though, so should be able to stay busy and focused on God that it isnā€™t too big of an issue today.

Today is my one year wedding anniversary with my wonderful wife. She is currently in Florida though, and Iā€™m in Texas. Expecting today to be a tough day, loneliness is a big trigger for me. Iā€™ll see her again on May 22nd. Bought her a card. Not sure why I felt like I still needed all of the anniversary presents before our actual anniversary when itā€™ll be over a month before she can get them, but I did. Bought her a card, the book she is looking for, a cd that she forgot she asked for, and got a white box to put it all in that I plan on decorating somehow. (Probably spraypaint)
Might get her a cute shirt or something as well, donā€™t know yet. But I wanted to get the bulk aheas of time.

I really miss that woman

Almost at 12 days, my record is 13 almost 14. Looking to break it. Has been a bit easier after deleting everything I thought to use and almost living off the grid, but worth it. Temptation and urges are still there, but there is no way to satisfy them if I wanted to.
