Lack of sleep but not giving up

It’s been the third night of freedom. It has been really hard for me to sleep recently, laying hours in bed or waking up in the middle of the night. I have always used masturbation and porn before bed and it helped me to fall asleep. It was a habitual routine. I know I am recoving and i know it will take time. I know what I am doing is worth it and i know I am going in the right direction. I can do this!

Trust me brother I had plenty of no sleep nights but later it subsides, I’m going to have it happen again, and trust me, I enjoy every minute of suffering, because I know every second of suffering means I’m getting closer and closer to being free…

You have trained your brain to stay awake until after the porn. Now you will need to train it to expect new habits. Develop a healthy bedtime routine for yourself and try to stick to it. Your brain will soon cotton on to the new pattern of behaviour.

I have been dealing with the same thing recently. I started taking melatonin and I set a strict sleep schedule. I take the melatonin between 9:30 and 9:45 each night and a lie down 30 minutes after taking it. The first few nights it seemed like it wasn’t helping at all but I stuck with it and now I’m starting to see some results. The routine helps you fall asleep and the melatonin helps you sleep through the night instead of waking up with those pesky urges. Night time is the hardest for me as I had a routine just like you. I thought that since I am a creature of habit, I should replace my old destructive routine with a new and healthy one.
