Well being a monk does help alot, but as a lay person being enlightened is also possible, at least from Buddhist perspective the first level of Ariya (enlightenment) called Sotapanna which means Stream enterer, it is a possibility for lay person that still has sexual desire, if you’re interested to read more on it https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_stages_of_enlightenment
