Morning Prayer
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
From: 1 Corinthians 1:27 (KJV)
Inspiration
If you look at it on paper, it does not make sense why God would even consider us human beings to be his vessels. Human beings were never worthy. With angels and greater creations around, it is deeply humbling to know that God would use us, the unqualified, to carry this precious message. Don’t ever think that you cannot be used as a messenger of God. He has already qualified you.
Prayer
Dear God, I thank you that in all I do, I have you with me. Thank you for considering me as your child and as a vessel to bring light into the world. Lord I know there are people who may be smarter and stronger than me, but that does not move me. You are the source of my validation, Lord. To you, I am grateful. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Numbers 6:22-26 (KJV)
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
A Blessing For the New Year
Frances Taylor
A new year, a new beginning, a chance to start over! Tradition says this is a time for resolutions to be made. We think about more exercise, a better diet, getting healthy, but what about spending more time on prayer, on picking up the Bible more often? We are not just physical beings, we are also spiritual beings. Just as it is important to take care of our physical health, it is important to take care of our spiritual health. When we take care of our spiritual self, we can deal more effectively with the concerns of the day. Every day brings us news of the chaos and confusion, the violence and fears our world is facing. If this is all we think about, even our health can suffer – headaches, an increase in our blood pressure, sleepless nights! When we turn our minds and hearts to God, we are reminded of the promises He has made. It’s not that the world has changed, but our response to the cares of the world has changed. This prayer of blessing given to Aaron for the Israelites is our prayer as well. This is a prayer that promises peace, protection, kindness and mercy. Let this prayer be our mantra for the New Year, a reminder of God’s goodness. Let’s not stop there! This prayer also gives us a way for us to be a blessing during this New Year. Just as God will be kind and merciful to us, we should be kind and merciful to others. In this way, not only will the year be a blessing for us, it will also be a blessing for others.
Prayer
Dear God, let us make a new resolution for this New Year. Give us the grace to be a blessing for others as we remember the blessings you have promised to us. Amen.

Night Prayer
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
From: Acts 20:32 (KJV)
Inspiration
Most, if not all of us, at some point have the privilege of sharing the gospel with somebody. As pastors, teachers, youth leaders, or even friends and parents, we have opportunities to proclaim the good news of Jesus. But there comes a point where the work of the Holy Spirit takes over, and that is when we need to get out of the way, pray for those we’ve witnessed to, and trust that God will reveal Himself and draw the other person into His saving grace.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for using me to share the good news of salvation with others. I ask that You continue to speak to them and nurture them. May Your grace be fully revealed to those who are lost, and may Your Spirit build up those who know You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Morning Prayer
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
From: Philippians 4:12,13 (KJV)
Inspiration
One of the most important things we should learn, as Christians, is to be content. We will face periods in our lives where we will have plenty and we will face times of lack. Neither situations reflect on God’s character. God’s character is revealed in our endurance and our contentment because of our trust in Him. Don’t be moved by your situations. Be content in God. He has all your needs covered.
Prayer
Dear God, I thank you that you are the source of my strength in every situation I go through. I know I can endure anything because Christ is my strength. May I never forget this, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

1 Samuel 3:8-10 (KJV)
And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
Speak Lord, Your Servant is Listening
Frances Taylor
The Lord called, “Samuel, Samuel.” Samuel didn’t recognize the Lord’s voice. Now, imagine the Lord calling your name. Would you recognize his voice? I’m sure I have missed it many times in my life. Samuel needed Eli to help him understand what was happening and once he understood, he immediately said yes. In order to hear and understand the Lord’s call to us, some things are necessary. First, we need some quiet in our lives. The world is full of noise. Some of this noise is unavoidable – traffic, construction, machinery, etc. – but much of it we inflict upon ourselves. How much time do we spend listening to the radio, the television, video games, idle chatter? In order to hear the Lord, we need to turn away from the noise and turn toward the Word of God. Samuel also needed the help of Eli, a man who had been listening to God’s voice for many years and had served the Lord as a priest. Although he was old and had not always been faithful, he could help Samuel know how to respond to the Lord’s call. God has put people in our lives to help us in our search for God’s voice and sometimes we are called to be help for others. Have you ever heard someone say to you, “That was just what I needed to hear?” Or perhaps it was you who needed someone to say just the right thing to you. Once you do recognize what the Lord is calling you to do, you have two choices, either to respond as Samuel did or think about the difficulties you might encounter, or how you might offend a friend, or think of all the things you need to do first. We choose what to do. We can listen for God’s voice or turn away; we can do as the Lord requests, or refuse. God has given us free will, the question is what will we do with it.
Prayer
Lord, open my ears to hear your voice, open my heart to respond to your call with love and trust. Amen.

Night Prayer
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
From: Philippians 2:5 (KJV)
Inspiration
To be more like Christ, we must seek the mind of Christ. The more we think like him, the easier it will be to live for him and emulate him. And what is the mind of Christ? It is the mind that chooses humility over pride, and service over demands. His is a mind that regards others with love and seeks opportunities to dispense grace and mercy.
Prayer
Father, You are wise and loving. I ask that You grow me in the knowledge of Your ways, so that I may serve You more faithfully. As I meditate on Your word and the example of Jesus, help me to discern the mind that compels his humble acts of love and grace. Work in my thoughts, so that I might conform my mind to Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
