CoffeeMan's Diary

If you mean to ask what is it about, the cover will give you an idea

It’s okayish. The Ideas expressed in this book are nothing extraordinary. Most of the advice is quite intuitive but it’s helpful in the sense that it’s a good reminder. However, I won’t recommend this unless this is something you deeply care about. There’s better stuff to read about. I just picked it up because the reviews said it’s a light read and I really needed a break from serious reading.

Have you read some fine pieces of Literature yet? I mean some of the great classics or something.

If you have not read something like Dickens’ Tale of Two Cities or Great Expectation or Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes Stories, do give them a shot.

You can also try Oscar Wilde’s Play The Importance of Being Earnest and all. Believe me the Classics have much more power in them to teach about the world and life than these modern bestsellers.

Also, you can read some of these short yet very profound essays by Francis Bacon. My special recommendation will be Of Studies, Of Truth, Of Revenge and Of Travel.

I have a few classics in mind. However, I’m currently avoiding fiction and most classics are fiction.

Some of the classics I wanna read:

  • The Art of War - Sun Tzu
  • War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy
  • The Intelligent Investor - Benjamin Graham

There are more that I can’t remember right now.

Man, are you sure you want to read this 1200-page-long novel about Napoleonic Wars? I have a pretty premium copy of it but never took off with it. The longest one I read was The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas which went to 900 pages.

Even Fiction has a lot of power brother. Don’t undermine it. In some cases, it is even better than non-fiction.

Will definitely give a try to the titles you’ve enlisted above…

I’ve heard it’s a difficult one but they also say it’s great. I don’t know man, these might stay in my wishlist till the day I checkout from this world

If you ever intend to read a longish work then go for Les Miserables. Or The Count of Monte Cristo. Man ask me about long novels I have their offline copies.

Woke up at 8am today despite falling asleep at around 2:30 am. I had hit the bed earlier but couldn’t fall asleep so was reading untill late night, or should I say, early morning. 8am is still a huge improvement because for the last several weeks I was getting up at anywhere between 10am to 12 noon. Looks like sleeping outside worked. Gonna do that all summer.

Studied for roughly 4 hours today which is also an improvement.

Spent lesser time on YouTube compared to my daily average. Need to further cut down my time on YouTube untill I’m free of it. I don’t watch anything useful there anyways.

Missed workout and drum practice today.

Man! I miss something or the other everyday. It’s like every day is a race against time. I guess NoFap does that to you. All that masculine energy needs to be put to use somewhere. So it translates into an urgency to accomplish things and learn new skills.

Good night.

Today was a good day. Even though I didn’t check all the boxes, I did great on my number one priority i.e. studying. Also met a friend after several months so that consumed a little time but socialising occasionally is good in my opinion. Also, he’s one of the friends who’s got his shit together and is a good influence.

I was watching YouTube in the morning today and before everything could spiral out of control, I remembered to shut it down. I guess that saved the day.

Now I need to work on a routine so I don’t squander the little chunks of free time scattered throughout the day.

Good night.

Just a regular day. Did my duties to the best of my abilities. Actually, scratch that… I could’ve done better. Anyways, I’m happy that I’m on the right path.

Good night.

Another productive day. I clocked around 5 hours of study, did some reading and practiced a little Spanish on Duolingo.

Missed workout and drum practice. Actually I’ve been compromising on these two activities on most days trying to maximize my study hours. I need to make a routine and adhere to it strictly so I can accomplish all my daily goals.

You know what, I’ll practice drums for half an hour right now before hitting the bed.

Good night.

Great day! Accomplished every single task for today and then some.

Kept the workout very light as I’m resuming after several days. 36 push-ups (12 × 3) and 5 pull-ups.

Studied to the point that my back hurt. I know I shouldn’t brag about it and instead focus on correcting my posture.

Went to a wholesale fruit market and bought a crate of Mangoes and a crate of Oranges. Love a glass of fresh orange juice in the morning.

I would like to share more but I’m running a little behind schedule so adiós.

Buenas noches.

Today, I came to the realization that my aspirations are not feasible within the constraints of my available time. However, I refuse to surrender or make empty commitments. Instead, I will proceed one step at a time, relishing the journey. As James Clear aptly said, “It is unlikely that your actual path through life will match the exact journey you had in mind when you set out.”

Good night.

We always need something to keep going, even if it doesn’t seem possible.
Fighting and persisting for something is what makes us human. It’s how we have evolved.

Dear diary, sorry for missing yesterday’s update.
The reason: I had another episode of binging YouTube. Even today, I wasted my time on it until afternoon. I had it well under control for a few days but it was like the flood gates opened yesterday.

Don’t worry dear diary. Everything’s under control now. Thanks to this new practice of habit tracking, I got a swift reality check that prompted an exepeditious damage control. I was able to recover and managed to make the day moderately productive.

Good night.

I was having a hard time concentrating on studies today. I know why that’s happening. The volume of information I’m supposed to imbibe seems insurmountable. I feel overwhelmed. Moreover, I like to study in depth but because of the time constraint, I have had to modify my approach. Adapting to this new style has proven to be difficult but it’s the only way I can produce tangible results.

Despite all the aforementioned issues, I made the most of my day by working on other avenues.

Good night.
